This is my review as a visitor last Sunday evening 30/9/2018. I first visited this church back in the early 90's as a young bible college student. Full credit must be given to them as fewer and fewer churches still have a sunday evening meeting. And this wasn't a 'knees up' kind of social meeting that many churches try as a last resort to attract visitors again, this was a proper worship service where the word of God was expounded. I was rather nervous when I saw a set of drums at the back of the church, but thankfully they weren't used during the meeting I attended. The RSV bible translation was in use and songs and hymns from mission praise were projected onto the wall. I found the singing to be lackluster and rather laboured, even though we sang great hymns like Great is thy faithfulness!

The message was from 1 Cor 1: 4-5 'I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ, that in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge'. It was a very solid message how our salvation and gifts are all given 100% because of God's grace. 'We don’t suddenly just get it one day and understand the gospel' the pastor said, it has to be a God given understanding that we do not naturally have. He also warned against using our spiritual gifts in a prideful way before others and to justify ourselves before God. This was a message highlighting God’s wonderful grace and belittling the pride of men. I was very appreciative of this message.

The biggest distraction came from the motorway strength ceiling lights that were far too bright for the church hall. They were incredibly powerful white LED arc lights that blinded you whenever your eyes accidentally looked upwards. If you are susceptible to migraines or have sensitive eyes you will have a big problem here especially if it's an evening service when it's darker outside and their brightness is even more noticeable. Whatever happened to gentle cosy wall lights that do not overpower the senses?

It would have been nice to have tea served afterwards to encourage fellowship, so visitors and attendees leave having had meaningful conversations before heading out into a fallen world for another week of trials and tribulations, etc.

Love this place. A family of Christians who love one another and worship God reverently and joyfully. Led by humble wise pastors. They want to live changed lives that honour Jesus and please their heavenly father. Always glad to visit here.
