Good local pub. Fairly good choice of food and beer ok. I found since the pub has had a re vamp the interior is so dark it is hard to see and lighting for me is not great. Phone first to check if food is available and booking might be an idea.

Decided to pop in after a recent refurbishment. Was greeted swiftly at the bar and Ally was really pleasant to speak with, polite and warm. The food was nice, we had 3 courses and felt the staff were attentive without being overbearing.

I sincerely think this was the poorest breakfast I've gone out for. Our family came here first thing on a Sunday morning as they opened to get some breakfast before heading off for a day out, this was a birthday treat for our child's birthday. We were a group of 6, 4 adults and 2 young children. We ordered pretty much straight away, at 5 past 9, ordering 3 breakfasts, kids breakfasts and a bacon bap. It was approaching 10 o'clock by the time the food arrived, nearly an hour, and when it did come the bacon bap bun was burnt to a crisp. I'm not exaggerating it was completely black. When we were served this, straight away we commented how bad it looked and the server didn't even acknowledge it... He just walked away. The breakfasts we were served were not the ones we ordered, and the food we did get was shockingly poor. The eggs were hugely overcooked and all the toast was burnt completely, onions were all burnt to the bottom of the hot plate, mushrooms were lifeless, it was pretty much inedible. The only decent thing was the beans and they obviously came out of a can. £35 spent for very little food to get eaten and a really disappointing level of food and service. It was my first time eating here and I would not recommend it to anybody and definitely will not be returning.

Been in today for a Family members Birthday Lunch, 8 if us in total with £85 spent between us all. The staff I couldn't fault. This is not a reflection on them at all, although they could do with some more help I feel. 1st off, all of the places you touch ie, the bar, tables, hand rails were sticky to touch. Where we sat I placed my handbag down.....well let's just say the dust was very apparent. We had to baby wipe the table down before our food came! I wish I had took pictures. Bearing in mind we got there at 12, the tables should not be that way if cleaned properly.
The food ordered today was very disappointing.
Chips were dry, chicken wings looked like they had been reheated and were also dry and chewy!
Steak was tough and not good.
Of all things, even the corn on the cob was soggy! Not sure what's happening in the kitchen, but such a shame that simple food is not how it should be! I don't mind paying for food at all....please sort these simple issues out. Other than that it's a good pub.....not sure i will be back though to be honest, not for food anyway! Sorry!

The Briars looks like a classic english pub. The food is excellent and prices very reasonable. Everything seem clean and staff is very polite. Definitely - I'll be back - With friends and with family.

Not sure what to expect with some mixed reviews. No need to worry though. Despite being a bit of a local pint on the way home from work type of place the service was excellent and the staff were friendly. The menu has a big choice at everyday prices and the food was spot on. Great app to order from your table as well. Will certainly be back

Had a lovely meal with a friend that I hadn't seen for over a year. Staff were friendly and polite. We both had the Italian chicken with Monterey Jack cheese which was very nice and the honeycomb Eton mess ice-cream sundae which was nice but would have been nicer with some meringue pieces in it instead of just honeycomb.
