Phoneypony is a brilliant place with a positive atmosphere. Excellent skills by all barbers skilfully trained under the direction of award-winning owner Jen.

I moved to in-house barber Jacob™ a few months back but feel confident if I could not get a booking with him that I could trust everyone there with giving me a quality cut.

Jacob™ is skilled with precision and years of experience. I have never left unhappy and the cuts are consistent.

They have done an excellent job with COVID procedures to make you feel safe and secure. The staff are warm and friendly and there is no awkwardness. Visitors always feel welcomed.

Great coffee, great music and atmosphere. They are a class act and a cut above all barbershops in the greater Chelmsford area. I continue to drive 30 minutes to this barbershop because I consider them the best.

I booked with Jacob after a recommendation which was pointless as he was busy. I then got no choice but to have my haircut with Abby (who is maybe an apprentice?). Worst haircut I’ve ever had, Jacob had to try and salvage it but the damage was done, and will be for some time. They were decent enough not to charge me, but if I wanted a rubbish haircut for free I would of done it myself.

Been getting my hair cut here for a long time and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I used to have very difficult hair to cut with awkward crowns , cowslicks and other annoyances but Jacob tackled the challenge every single time with ease. Jacob has been cutting my hair ever since and even gives me tips on how to take care of my beard and scalp etc. Just for the icing on the cake the vibes and pure banter the rest of the team all have in there is very welcoming and makes getting your hair cut a lovely experience to look forward to

I have been visiting for a few years now and haven't been let down once. Jen and the gang are very accomodating and the banter is on point. I would recommend calling ahead and booking in as sometimes it does get very busy.

Booked myself and my son in for a cut and beard trim (not my son).
First time visiting and Jen was absolutely fantastic. =She gave me lots on advice for my first beard trim and gave me a fantastic haircut to suit. My son got a great cut too and I have to say they have gained a new customer.
I felt very welcome and will be back in a few weeks.

I had a walk-in this evening, as was looking for new barbers in Chelmsford... And I found it!!

I had Ben the apprentice cut my hair & trim my beard and what a fantastic job he did! Thank you.

This barbershop felt relaxed and down to earth, nothing like I have experienced before. I would certainly highly recommend and will be going back soon.

Have to say this is the best Barbers ever. I normally get my hair cut in a salon but being a women they never cut it short enough! Jen did a fabulous job with shaved sides and quiff on top on my hair and the atmosphere is banging. Can’t wait to go back! Thanks guys can’t recommend enough!
