Gents of Kensington

Dropped in recently on a visit to London and it really was an authentic and genuine old school barber's shop experience. The fittings and ambiance are perfect and what's more, the barber was excellent. The trip was well worth while and a relaxing experience. Will definitely make the trip next time I'm in town.

The barber rushed though the trim, somewhat aggressively stabbing the trimmer into my scalp. I wouldn't go back ever: over priced and poor service.

I booked a slot here and received a confirmation email. Showed up and the place was closed waited 10 minutes rang the number on here. No luck.
Haircut might be fine if you get one but book at your own risk I guess.

So incredibly rude! First time I went to this place and it will definitely be the last time. I never experienced anything like that before. Just to give you some color on my experience today a few minutes ago:

I walk in at 16:45 on Sunday (closing time is 5 pm) and politely ask if they are still open. The lady working there seems not happy even though there was not a single client. She just checks her phone and tells me “We close in 10 min” and then nothing. So, I ask if I still can get a haircut. She replies “I don’t know, do you think it will be done in 10 minutes?”. At this stage I am a bit speechless. I ask if she implies that she will not do or not finish my haircut if it takes more than 10 minutes to complete. My next thought is that I rather do no risk a haircut here, so I just tell her that I am good and want to leave. She shouts something after me, so I turn around and ask what she said? She yells at me “It doesn’t matter, get out of here!!!”
Glad I got out of there reading some of the other reviews here and the aggressive responses by the manager to customer complaints. Tomorrow I got back to my regular barber, South Ken Barbers.

I've been getting my hair cut here by Emmanuel for well over a year and every time I've had a fantastic experience.

We've built a great relationship over time and I'm more comfortable with him than any other barber I've ever had.

Emmanuel is a very nice guy. Friendly, polite and welcoming.
Have had my hair cut twice so far and each cut was great. I got what I asked for and it didn't take long either which I find great. Very relaxed atmosphere and a nice shop. They even sell Cuban cigars! Bonus.

Used to come here occasionally until two years ago. It was a bit of pot luck regarding which barber you got. One was rather slap dash.

Went today needing a very speedy 0.5 fade. The amiable and Covid-safe Italian barber (whose name I didn't manage to catch) did a swift and excellent job. I understand he is working as the sole barber at the moment; I will definitely keep going back on that basis.

The venue itself is immaculately clean, well-lit and in a good location. Considering it's SW7, the price is decent too. Covid friendly. 5 * - glad I didn't review a couple of years ago, or else it would have been lower. Clearly the proprietor has taken note of some of the less flattering past feedback on here and ensured a consistent quality service. Bravo.

I got a great haircut here. They took their time to listen to what I wanted and helped me figure out a new haircut that went better with my curly hair. Great attention to what the customer wants!
