In conclusion I thought it was expensive for what was offered.
I didn't really know what I wanted so I asked for advice and a guy called Stevie gave me some really good tips, he also gave me a great haircut and a brilliant wet shave.
Would recommend, ask for Stevie!
I first went in Friday 2nd November, at about 3:20pm, but was told they were too busy. So, I asked to make an appointment. Having read the Gents Barbering website, I asked for a haircut and shave with hot towel. The young man who took my appointment assured me I could get all this on Monday 5th at 10am for £25. I expected to pay more like £30, but he said "no, it will be £25".
When I arrived at 9:50 on Monday 5th November, a man who presumably owns/manages the shop was just leaving. One customer was being seen to by a presumably senior stylist; another customer entered after me and sat down, presumably to wait for the senior stylist. A younger man was standing at the back of the shop eating a take away breakfast.
At about 3 minutes past 10, I enquiried about my 10am appointment. The senior stylist called to "Shaun" the young man at the back. He said in a begrudging tone "Oh, OK, I'll have to finish my breakfast later" and came to tell me where to sit.
I was not offered the complementary hair wash, as stated on their website. I told the young barber that I'd like a shorter haircut with a bit of style. I also enquiried about the shave, which I had booked on Friday but Shaun told me he didn't know how to do it and there was only one person trained to do it, and he (obviously) wasn't there at that time.
Shaun told me that their website is out of date, as the claim that the owner trains students at Dunstable College is untrue, as he's not working at Gents Barbering anymore.
The haircut was OK but not worth £15. Shaun did offer me to rebook for a free hot towel shave but I haven't got time just to go in for a shave.
48 hours later not a peep from them in regards to what happened or even an apology. Cost me money in a taxi as well.
