Elston’s Barbers

They may be good at cutting hair but I have yet to experience this. I went for a hair cut this morning and it is now nearly 2pm and I am still waiting. I have left the barbers shop as I have more important things to do. I would say allow 6 hours if you are going for a hair cut here and maybe a portable toilet too. Disgusting service and I will never use the company again. Furthermore, I have now taken legal advice and this is being investigated by Citizens Advice & Trading Standards.

Friendly staff, good clean facilities. Sometimes busy but worth the wait as they cut your hair brilliantly every time. Good value for money. Suitable for young children, a family run business who go that extra mile. Highly recommend.

Would give 0 stars if possible. Terrible service, it was my first time here and it definitely will be my last. No acknowledgement at all when I go on. Waited 15 minutes for 2 barbers to cut 2 people's hair - fair enough. The next 2 customers in line who are obviously friends with the barbers go and sit in the chairs. Barber 1 then decides to go on a 10 minute coffee break. Returns with a coffee for herself and the customer (no I wasn't offered one but I don't mind that). Both barbers now take over 30 mins to deal with both these customers, mainly because they constantly stop to have a chat. They still haven't acknowledged my presence in the shop apart from to tell a potential customer that I would be next up. Finally barber number 2 finishes and I think it's my turn. Except he packs up his stuff and informs the customer that he's just finished with, but not me, that he's done for the day. I had enough at that point and left. Forty five wasted minutes later and not one word to me apart from a forced hello. If they'd just bothered to say something to me I wouldn't have minded but by the end I got the distinct impression they didn't want my money and I was happy to oblige. Never again.

PS I think they thought I was a student from the uni judging by the welcome that students I saw students get there. I'm not a student actually but got a very 'locals only' vibe. Maybe they just didn't like my face.

After trying many different barbers, I have finally found a good one! The lady that cut my hair was very nice and she did a great job.

I am that old I used to get my haircut here by Mathews dad, I always remember the banter about his jaguar cars, I digress lol. The service is as good now as it was back then " brilliant" would never dream of going anywhere else. The mom and son team are excellent thank you for all the good years of service.

I have been going to Elston's for forty years. So you could say I am totally satisfied. Always spotless and a warm welcome. Great barber. 5 star.
