The treatments were good although not 25 mins for each one (I checked the clock). We asked about where we go to use the spa facilities, told it was an extra £5 each, and led through the bar to the sports club. Our money was paid then told the jacuzzi wasn’t working, hmmm. Receptionist was less than interested just said the pool is that way pointing up some stairs, it was a club member who took us round in the general direction. When we got there a ‘water babies’ class was in full flow, the changing rooms were far too busy with Mum’s n Dad’s and there tiny babies, so we turned round and wandered back to try to find the ladies changing rooms. Another club member found us wandering aimlessly about and showed us up more stairs and down a dark corridor above the squash courts to the ladies changing room - we had the place to ourselves. Cozzies on and wrapped in our own dressing gowns and flipflops (I know! What spa doesn’t supply dressing gowns and flipflops/slippers) we toddled off back to the pool.
One gaggle of new parents had finished their water baby session and a new set were in the pool and yet another we’re getting prepped for the next one. Not exactly relaxing spa-like zen. Anyway sauna, steam room blah blah, went in the half of the pool not used for water babies session - although the parents sat at the side of the pool videoing and taking photo’s of their offspring with the other parent, gave us filthy looks as we walked past them. The pool, oh dear, it’s 4ft deep, I’m a non-swimmer so go for the elegant option of using the ladder thing to get in, it’s loose - as in not fixed properly, a bit of a health and safety issue as it’s wobbly and will probably become detached soon. My friend and I were bumbling about in the pool, talking as you do, watching what actual the ‘water babies’ thing is (my friend is a soon-to-be Granny), when one of the little darlings puked in the pool, I suspect not the first or last one to do that. No effort was made to clear the puke from the water nor people asked to vacate the pool while it was dealt with, eeew! We had seen enough, it crossed our minds what had previous session goers done in the pool beforehand. We were out of there - like fast!
Flip-flopped our way back to our empty ladies changing room, showered, hair dried, dressed, back to ‘spa reception’ for our pre-ordered lunches. We went back to the upstairs dining room as we had been asked if we’d like our lunch there. We waited as we were a few minutes early and although the therapist had said earlier in the day they were fully booked, it was like the Marie Celeste, only the staff having their lunch...in the spa dining room! When our food arrived we couldn’t fault it, absolutely delicious. It’s just everything else that lets it down - badly.
This is not a spa, it’s a bar/pub with a salon above it. Don’t waste your money here, and don’t use the ladies loo’s upstairs....they’re filthy!
doing the treatments & the young girl at the reception was faultless
couldn't do enough for us!
The spa could do with a bit of updating decor wise but apart from that we'll worth the money
Thank you to the girls
