Truly a great place to stay in Durham: having lived in the city for four years, I thought I knew it pretty well but Franny's place was a hidden gem to even me. I was in the city for a reunion and stayed just the one night. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, a beautifully appointed bathroom and lots of privacy. I enjoyed having a proper lock on my bedroom door too. The house was utterly spotless and the hostess charming, interesting and very much respectful of privacy at the same time. You cannot go wrong at this wonderful homestay B&B.

My daughter and I stayed here last night and absolutely loved it! Her house is lovely (the photos don't do it justice!) and full of character!! Frances was so helpful with everything and a really interesting lady. Loved, loved, loved our stay and would definitely return. Thank you Frances 😊 (ps. Fab breakfast!)

I stayed here for one night, on a beautiful spring day in March. The place is absolutely perfect: situated at the back of a completely quiet square, quite close to the bus going into Durham city. Or you can take a scenic footpath towards the river with gorgeous views of the cathedral, mostly downhill, reaching the cathedral in just over half an hour.

Franny is a wonderful host: I felt very welcome, and immediately at home in my spacious room with a good bed and a comfortable en-suite bathroom. She helped me to get my bearings in order to get into the city and we had a nice chat during a full English breakfast.
Shame I didn't plan to stay longer, and I wholeheartedly recommend this place for anyone visiting this amazing city. Absolutely worth the five stars, and some.
