The Lowman in Tiverton takes its name from the river, which flows serenely past under the bridge some 60 yards in front. This is an unusual bed and breakfast in that it used to be a pub, which is evident, but is now a coffee shop by day and a bed and breakfast overnight. This means that it is both a pleasant and a peaceful place to stay. It is run by Trudy and Paul, both experienced local publicans who will make you feel extraordinarily welcome. I arrived soaked to the skin after a rather long and very wet motorcycle ride. Trudy immediately showed me to my room and insisted on taking my wet clothes and leathers away so she could dry them out for me. I was very pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness of my room and particularly the en suite shower room/wc. (Other Guest Houses take note)! No taking a shower in a phone box at The Lowman and the room price was the same!
Beware of breakfast at The Lowman, it is both generously filling and delicious! Even the toast, which is not the usual sliced bread but fresh bread cut by hand. If I were to plan another Devon trip, I'd be checking The Lowman's availability first! Also, they have an especially secure car/motorcycle parking arrangement which guarantees peace of mind!

Room was spacious, immaculate, well provided. Shower room too was spacious with a large shower and excellent water pressure. We particularly liked that our room was accessible via the fire escape and overlooked the pretty courtyard. Good parking area. Hosts were very friendly and helpful and food excellent and generous. Would definitely recommend and hope to revisit soon

Spent one night on my way to work in this nice place. Arrived late but still warm welcomed by owner. Unfortunately had no chance to try breakfast as started early morning. Room clean, bedding fresh, bed comfy and warm shower - that's what you need. Rooms are located above the pub.

Nice room, comfy bed and good shower. Very hot room but it was a hot day and would recommend ear plugs due to the road and Clock tower. Good breakfast and friendly owners. Don't follow Google Maps if heading onto Cornwall, ended up on a real Google adventure on tiny roads.

What a lovely place to stay. Stayed for 1 night with my family as we were passing through. We arrived late but this wasn't a problem. Trudi was very welcoming and was great with our 2 children. The room was beautiful and clean, bed super comfy. We didn't get to try breakfast as we had to leave early but Trudi made us all a packed lunch to take with us on our journey which I thought was such a lovely thing to do. Would definitely recommend and will use again next time we're in the area. Thank you.

Trudi and Paul offer a warm welcome to the Lowman which continued throughout out our weeks stay. Nothing is a problem, rooms clean and comfortable along with a superb breakfast menu and quality food to back it up. Would have no hesitation is recommending staying with them. Sensible pricing makes it a good choice.
