Enjoyed our stay at the interesting historic house The Cedars bed and breakfast for 26th-30th May 2019.Neil Wayne was a friendly man and it was no trouble for him to pick us up from the train station and take us back on our return journey.Neil cooked a lovely breakfast and there was a good variety of cereals. Some may not notice including Neil himself, and as we are out all day it is just a bed for the night and breakfast. The fussy among us would say it's very unwholesome including Neil's dirty clothes. It appears the hallway and going up the stairs as been decorated as the paper looked fresh but thick in dust as in the room.Decided we wernt going to look or think about it too closely, but catching the eye under the mattress on a wooden slatted bed and behind the bed would really put us off.Fresh linen and towels in the room.If the radiators had been on we would have removed the filthy adapter socked off the top of the radiator. There was a cracked and broken plug socket still on, where we have worked electric items and sockets have to be pac tested regularly. The decor in the room wasn't good, but for us having a feeling of being clean is top priority.Again the whole feel of the dining room table was unwholesome.Fruit on the table was off putting along with dirty mats and a tray for the jams and marmalades, again tried not to look too closely as not to be put off eating in there.Would have felt better with individual condiments as the thought of several knifes/spoons going into the jars didn't bear thinking about.Kitchen where we sat looked ok although cluttered and a dirty cloth hanging on the cooker.Christmas decorations although not up were about in the hallway.Sitting outside we could see Neil's quarters which looked just as unwholesome and also had a decorated Christmas tree still up.The house needs refurbishment in keeping with the character of the house and a good clean. Sorry for being critical, some wouldn't call it acceptable.Richard and Alison Barsby.
