The Grainary

What and amazing place with stunning views great for the kids with a park, pond and animals. The room was immaculate with everything you could want or need and the breakfast was the icing on the cake. Cooked breakfast with continental, all top quality and plenty to satisfy anybody with the most delightful staff. Only complaint we where offered a table for the evening at check in but when we confirmed after seeing the room we where told they where short staffed and where rude about it making us fell like we where putting them out which upsetus so had to venture out in bad weather to try and find food. Unfortunately I think this has put us off a second visit in the future which is a real shame.

This was a truly exquisite place to stay for a few nights. It's a very special, beautiful spot - a perfect balance of rustic and elegance. There's so much care put into the rooms and renovations, and the food was top-notch. We stayed for two nights as part of a longer trip through Yorkshire, though I easily could have booked in for longer and just enjoyed life on the farm and surrounding areas. Very easy to drive into Whitby or Robin Hood's Bay for some coastal sight-seeing while you're staying at the Grainary. Staff are friendly and helpful. I feel so lucky I was able to get a booking because I have no doubt rooms will only get harder and harder to book as the secret gets out how delightful this is. Make sure to book ahead for a table if you want to dine in. Some confusion about when the bar was open for snacks and when it wasn't - different messaging on the website from what was written in the room and what was happening in real life, so just verify with someone who works there. (There are some good pub food locations in a five mile radius).

Excellent place to stay, nice and remote. Good for taking a dog if you have one with plenty of walks available. Room was very clean, food was delicious and the staff very pleasant. Will go back again when we can.

I stayed Saturday 3rd December with my daughter and granddaughter for the night enjoying festive fayre and a hearty breakfast before going on the Santa train from Pickering.

We loved it and highly recommend the Grainary.

We travelled from Edinburgh all the way south along the coast and I can say that this was my favourite hotel. Although I didn't have time for a proper meal here, the breakfast and desserts were delicious, especially the cheesecake, thanks to the chef for sharing the recipe. Also thanks to the front desk staff for helping us book a taxi. Attached are a few photos taken in the early morning, the animals at the farm were very cute. I will definitely be back.

Set in beautiful surroundings, sufficiently far from towns to be secluded but close enough for easy access, The Grainary is the perfect place for a weekend getaway or a longer break.
We have stayed in both the self-catering apartments with family and in the inclusive accommodation as a couple, and both are fantastic.
The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, the food is out of this world, the atmosphere is homely and welcoming.
It would be impossible to over-state how much we have enjoyed staying at The Grainary, and we will be back in 2023!

Spent 2 nights here and had a really relaxing time.
Restaurant is very good. Wonderful breakfast.
Rooms are very well kept very clean and tidy.
