Just spent an extended weekend at Kirkgate House. The Owner Geoff was the consumate gentleman and host. Could not have wished for a better surroundings to base a few days away visiting local attraction, despite the rain. Highly recomend this hotel and will hopefully be returning soon for more of his hospitality and his breakfasts which are superbly prepared.
Thanks Geoff see you soon. Ian & Mavis

The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Very recommended.

Host (Geoff/Jeff 🤔) friendly and helpful. Room bright, and spacious, comfortable bed but bathroom a little "tired"
Just a heads up - Private parking via a very narrow alley off a very busy main road. We ended up parking in the public car park across the way as we were not confident in our driving skills

Perfect location for visiting Thirsk. Only a few car parking spaces if you are lucky you can park on the street free. Check in was interesting with a very eccentric owner it would have put some people off. Rooms are dated but very clean. Super breakfast.

Such a friendly welcome into a beautiful Georgian house by Geoffrey the owner. Clean, fresh, and rooms with tea/coffee, toiletries, lovely towels and tv. Comfortable, fresh beds, bath/shower and spacious room (family room for 3 Adults). Lovely cooked breakfast (happily accommodated a vegetarian), cereal, fruit, toast, juice and tea/coffee. Parking available by request. Recommended and we will visit again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The room was nice, parking was difficult to get into, the shower cubicle was tiny, and I found the owner to be quite invasive - felt like I was either being interrogated about my whereabouts during the day or told off. Imagine being a 40 odd yo female guest travelling by yourself and your host demanding an explanation on why you haven't left the room you had already paid for months in advance?!?
Location was good for me - I enjoyed the peace and quiet, but I won't stay again.

OK, the rooms were warm and comfortable, bathrooms nice and modern, but the owner made
us feel uncomfortable at times he hovers over you asking questions, not needed, the breakfast and stay was not value for money, he told us we couldn't park on the road outside! won't stay again. Disappointing.

Absolutely faultless stay in a wonderful house full of love and character.

From the minute you are welcomed by Geoff to when he bids you farewell you feel safe and welcome in his hotel .

Lovely clean and crisp bedding, warm quilt, fluffy towels
