Lovely cosy and warm night in the Garden Suite. Sat with a cup of tea in bed this morning and admired the fabulous view. Helen and John are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. Can't wait to go back.

A very comfortable place to stay, well situated and with beautiful views. Helen is a friendly and helpful host, and the welcome hamper was splendid. We stayed while visiting the Hay Festival, for which this is a perfect location - an easy 20 minute drive, but far enough to escape the crowds. Highly recommended (but don't take all the bookings...we want to come back!)

A cosy spotless well equipped suite with lovely views, in a secluded location run by delightful hosts.

We have stayed at Tegfan Garden Suite since it first opened as a B&B.

The House and it's Garden Suite is just 1/2 mile or so SE of Talgarth, in the the Black Mountains.

The Garden Suite is completely separate to the hosts' house, and very private. There's plenty of parking off road.
The large windows face SE, and look through their garden down the side of their house, and on toward the Black Mountains beyond, such an impressive view. It's very private despite the large windows, because the family don't seem to use that stretch of lawn. The suite has its own garden table and chairs.
Apart from the main house, the only immediate neighbours seem to be the hosts' parents' house, who have their own 'crazy golf' course that one can play.

Inside, one finds a spacious open plan room, and immaculate ensuite, there is a comfortable double bed in one corner, a dining/breakfast table, well equipped fitted kitchen and a sitting room area with TV and sofabed. WiFi works well.
The suite is very comfortable, immaculately clean, and warm.
n.b. My photos are from 2019, before the kitchen was fitted, just inside the entrance door.

Helen and John are great hosts. They've always offered the warmest welcomes. When it was a B&B they had thoughtful treats in the suite for us, and now it's self-catering, a lovely hamper stuffed with homemade and local produce. Helen runs her own business making delicious handmade preserves, so her excellent products were included. The hamper clearly is very carefully thought out.
John and Helen have always been very glad to help and always have come up with super suggestions for things to see and do, when we've asked them. Otherwise they left us alone to enjoy the lovely suite and chill, in between visits to local pubs, restaurants, lovely walks, and some local museums and markets (Helen is sometimes selling her produce at these).

Thanks for all the previous stays and here's to the next.

From the small market town of Talgarth, set between Brecon and Hay on Wye, we climbed the
high hedged lane opposite the working community run watermill and the Co-op. As instructed, we
took the right fork at each junction for about a mile, climbing up towards the mountains, until we
arrived at Tegfan, the home of John and Helen Dunne and the spacious garden suite that they rent
out. It is beautiful!
My wife and I stayed there for three nights in early July and the setting, the suite itself and the
thoughtful and warm welcome given us by Helen and her husband was amazing. The spacious
open plan room with a modern kitchen area and a new ensuite bathroom, has large windows all
down one side. These look out over a colourful and manicured garden to the sheep covered
hillside fields opposite with mountains beyond. Swallows dip and dive and and we could hear
the sound of baby sparrows as the parents brought food to the nearby nest.
Helen is an absolute fund of information - places to visit, local events, restaurants that could be
recommended - and her “welcome basket” was a wicker basket full of delicious items to be
discovered, including a loaf of her home made bread and samples of her award winning
marmalade and jam.
For a self-catering, peaceful country retreat in a beautiful setting we can absolutely recomended
it.

Helen’s accommodation has transitioned from a superb b&b to superb self catering. We have been staying at Tregfan for a number of years now and love it’s location and facilities. We have already booked in for next year. Relaxing, comfortable and friendly, we could not ask for more.
