A wonderful place to stay when visiting the Elan Valley. A very warm welcome from owner Steve, with tea and cake.

The house is beautifully decorated and set out in a Victorian style. It is conveniently placed just off the main road through Rhayader and in easy walking distance to the shops and many pubs in the town.

We stayed in the Bramble room that has its own entrance off the garden and a terrace with views across the valley. The room was very comfortable and provided a very peaceful nights sleep. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and has an excellent shower.

Breakfast was lovely - with almost limitless choice. The chickens in the garden supply the eggs - and the poached egg I had with my brekkie was ace.

I could not recommend Penralley House enough. Steve's attention to detail and genuine welcoming nature makes a refreshing change from soulless chain hotels that charge a similar amount. We will definitely be returning.

Awesome Service & Wonderful Atmosphere in the Grade 2 Listed Historic House in the Centre of Rhayader! The breakfast is no less than outstanding whilst the large landscaped gardens are brilliant for quiet strolls & relaxation! We stayed in the large historical bedroom with Four-Poster Bed & well equipped private bath suite. The room was also decorated with some beautiful antiques! Thanks to Host Steve for his sensitive support at all times! Recommended! 5/5 !

Only stayed for one night but couldn’t fault it. The location was good, Steve is the nicest man you could meet and the accommodation has been well thought out and looked after with loving care.
Didn’t get the cooks name but I had the best full English breakfast ever. Give it a try 😋

Very easy to get to. Excellent breakfast and the host is lovely, and really does go above and beyond for his customers. Rooms are querky, but very clean and tidy.

Steve was such a brilliant host. I stayed there Wednesday and Thursday this week for the Royal Welsh Show.
He was so helpful and it was just a really pleasant stay.
Would highly recommend. Cheers Ken.

Super friendly guest house. In the perfect spot in town with parking/bike storage. Breakfast was really tasty with a good choice for the full (welsh) Breakfast.
Will be returning as the whole town was really friendly. If going at busy times, suggest you pre-book your table in the local pubs/hotels.

A beautiful house, lovely garden and views. Plenty of safe parking, our lovely room opened directly onto our own small terrace and the garden. So friendly, Steve is a great host, very helpful, and delicious breakfasts. Will come back, definitely !

Beautiful building, the views from garden are stunning. The sun was shining. All the rooms are lovely and luxurious (we got a private tour). Steve is the host with the most and Jill's breakfasts are the best. This is the first time we have stayed here and visited Rhayader. Stunning place.
