We booked at the Baskerville Arms for a family reunion for about 20 of us, staying over the first weekend inn August 2019. We were looked after superbly.

Lovely quiet setting, great bar and garden with play area for children … and superb food and wine. As we were a party of 20, we had a private dining room on the Saturday evening. Most of us had the lamb, the fish, or the veg curry - all meals were adjudged magnificent. A brilliant weekend stay for us all.

The food here is superb. You know when you read "hand cut chips" and they're not? Well they are here. The burger is really home made and lovely. Hand battered fish usually is very uniform, here it's separate pieces of fresh fish. Clearly a new change of ownership, family run and finding their feet but by far the best food and friendliest welcome in our two week stay in the area.

The Baskerville House is a beautiful and wonderful place to stay, and I can't recommend it enough. The owners have gone to great lengths in the recent year to completely refurbish and renovate the hotel, and it now feels like a high end bed and breakfast while still maintaining its historical charm that appealed to me in the first place. The owners Stephen and Rebecca are both incredibly accommodating as well, always making sure our needs were met. In addition the breakfast provided was absolutely incredible, with all of the food locally sourced. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Hay-on-Wye area, there is no better place where you will get such such wonderful hospitality.

A wonderful time staying here, such a comfortable room and delicious breakfasts. The owners were so welcoming, with lots of ideas of where to visit in the area. Strongly recommend this place.

A lovely comfortable B&B with helpful and friendly owners, delightful bedrooms, and great breakfasts. (If you're looking at other reviews on here, make sure you only consider the recent ones since Stephen and Rebecca took over and did a total refurbishment.)

If you want to walk into Hay-on-Wye for dinner, it's just over a mile, along the road but with some lovely views on the way, and Stephen also had a good list of recommendations for places to east in the surrounding area.

Definitely hope to come back.

I stayed here for two nights, the first was the night before a horse riding trek with Freerein riding holidays & the night my trek finished. On arrival it was all locked up (I hadn't given a time of arrival), there is a display case to the right of the main entrance with a phone number to ring if the doors are locked. I rang and Stephen unlocked within minutes and helped me with my bags.
I had booked a single room, when I got to the room it was a 4ft bed which was great 😁 the room was spotless, very tastefully decorated & comfortable. The sheets are top quality, crisp & white, also nice fluffy towels.
Although they have opened Baskerville House (Baskerville Arms) as a boutique B&B there are still some original features, they kept the bar, which is great, not manned so has a trust system.
Breakfast was lovely too, Rebecca will cater to all tastes, cereal, very fresh fruit or cooked breakfast.
They only serve breakfast so you need to go out for food, Hay is only half an hour walk away, and there are lots of places to eat and a co-op store.
I travelled alone but Stephen & Rebecca are so lovely and welcoming that it wasn't a problem. They have both had a great life and are so interesting to talk to. Thank you for my stay and I will see you again soon. Alison.

A Fantastic little hotel, very welcoming hosts with a warm smile. The breakfast was top rate and the surrounding areas are simply stunning for walking. Not overly priced either which helped! I would go back in a heart beat!
