Eating out with my 8 year old daughter is usually a task in itself, but the staff at the steam gardens went above and beyond!
Our meals we're fantastic and very well priced! Home made nachos (Mmmm) whilst we waited.
The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed.
Will definitely be coming back with friends to try the cocktails out
Lovely staff, well kept outdoor space, good view of tracks (no trains scheduled on our visit).
Cons:
Terrible, overpriced, luke warm and v salty food, slow service, got our order wrong, overpriced beer. Burgers would be bearable if they were charging £2 from a roadside greasy spoon but for £10 its an absolute joke.
Want to watch trains eating burgers? Go to McDonald's and sit on the bridge - save yourself money and time, and enjoy better quality food.
EDIT TO ADD: If you eat there and agree it's 1* ripoff rubbish, why not help the general public by leaving an honest review of your own afterwards?
After a painfully long wait after ordering we were greeted with the kind of burger you'd expect from a roadside greasy spoon; although significantly colder and more expensive than you'd hope. It was also not what we'd ordered, they eventually rectified this by bringing the toppings we were missing an additional 20 minutes later by which time the burger was stone cold and unbelievably more disappointing than it was initially.
£4.50 for a pint and £9.50 for just a poor quality burger with no salads, sides or condiments was only made bearable with the "eat out to help out" deal and making the food cheaper. Even then at half the price I still felt short changed and wishing we'd just gone to McDonalds instead.
Admittedly the garden is very well kept and probably a lovely place to be if you're a train enthusiast and pick your timings well, but equally, there are so many alternative options in the area with lower prices and better food.
The staff as so friendly, courteous and can't do enough for the customers, the food is excellent and what a view from the Gardens!
Totally recommend The Steam Garden it's awesome, urge you to try out, you be won't be disappointed!
