Hope 2 Cycle

Took my bike here for a service because I wanted to support a local business & I like that they 'recycle' bikes. After the service I had to take my bike back within a fortnight because the rewired gears had come loose. They re-did the gears but I haven't been able to use the lowest gears since. Wouldn't use them again.

To charge £15 for the cheapest inner tube then charge labour on top, wilko & halfords charge £3 to £4 for the same inner tube, plus halfords do not charge labour multiple times for the same wheel they're taking off anyway. If you need a new tyre & tube fitting it's absolute cheapest £50 & they NEVER LAST! Absolutley fuming I've spend hundreds here assuming it was a fair price as they are supposedly a charity! Had no idea i was being ripped off until i went elsewhere. Please compare the price of the parts to anywhere else & i can assure you, you won't be back here. Funny how they don't have receipts & insist on cash (during a pandemic) hmm, the only charity work going on here is the guys back pocket.

Absolutely shocking customer service!
I bought a bike for my nephew when he visits, on his first use the brakes went.

I have tried calling, texting for months and even turning up at the shop. My voicemails, calls and texts have all been ignored. Iv tried returning to the shop but it never seems to open during it’s listed opening times and I don’t have the time or energy to keep putting the seats down, wrestling the bike into the car only to find nobody at the shop and no way of contacting anyone.

I eventually gave up as Im busy and it’s ridiculous to keep trying to contact someone who is clearly ignoring you. Finally today I went to a local reputable shop to get the brakes repaired and they were shocked that I was sold the bike not just because of the badly worn brakes but for other serious issues. They recommend I contact trading standards as the bike is unsafe and shouldnt have been sold. Luckily I had taken a lot of pictures on the day I got it and have evidence to show them.

I don’t like to write bad reviews but in view of the fact they sold a child’s bike to me on this unsafe state I felt it was necessary to share this experience in hopes of saving anyone else the time and money and potentially dangerous experience.

Taken two bikes to Hope 2 Cycle in the past 4 months. Both bikes came back broken, both bikes were taken in a second time to give the workers a chance to fix their errors. Both bikes AGAIN came back broken. Over £350 was spent across the two bikes and we had to take BOTH bikes elsewhere to fix the problems caused by Hope 2 Cycle. Such a shame as the workers are friendly. Stay away and go elsewhere.

Nice and polite staff, the bike I rented did what I needed it for (but chains fell off several times during rides) but once it had been returned I was told the original deposit would be returned to me as per the paperwork signed. It has now been well over a month since it was returned with no deposit money returned to me. This after phone calls/message left, emails sent and website message submitted asking for explanations no one has gotten back to me. Very disappointed.

Great place, the guys are so helpful. Took along a few bikes for donation which were received gratefully. Also took out Tandem in for repair. Tim could not have been more helpful, good communication and very reasonable. Couldn't recommend these guys more.....lots of bikes for sale that have been donated, refurbished. Service excellent and nothing too much trouble. Thanks Julian

Fantastic service. Great bikes and well priced. Went above and beyond. Look forward to using them again!

Brilliant local shop. Very reasonable prices, quality service, good selection of both bicycles and parts. Over the last few years, bought both bikes and components there without issue, and never found the staff to be anything but helpful and friendly.
People making comments that they're only interested in posh bikes is utter lunacy as they've a large selection of very affordable bikes and I've seen them go out of their way to ensure that they could help customers on very limited budgets keep their bikes on the road.
Highly Recommended.
