This bookshop was a wonderful find. We stumbled across it trying to hide from a sudden downpour and were instantly charmed. The shop feels like it has been in place forever with aged furniture and a lived in feel while the stock is wide ranging and we'll organised, with the books they feature being very interesting and a little different to highstreet shops. Needless to say we made a few purchases before leaving.
Well worth a visit!

Quintessentially British, this quaint bookshop looks Dickensian with its wooden furnishing.
Most likely frequented by Jane Austen whose family had an account with the shop and no doubt would be a place Austen found interesting.

Would she have spent her days in best selling tomes of the time?
Gathering inspiration for her next novel, hot off the press,
Keeping her readers guessing as to what's next.
When so much competition existed by established authors, not authoress.
She being one of the few female writers who wrote about topics not yet covered,
and gradually getting to be discovered.

So having this bookshop so close to her home,
Would have been heaven-sent as she wrote and read prolifically in her room, all alone.
Or so I have read, but not been told.

Superbly curated collection of books. Spent 2 hours here & came away with books for me to read & for the grandchildren from the excellent upstairs childrens' book collection. So much better than Waterstones formulaic shops as a great range of nonfiction books from independent quirky and engaging writers from England & further afield are stocked in abundance here.

Lovely bookstore with amazing editions I have never seen in bigger stores. Would definitely recommend checking in for both the classics and modern literature

There are a few shops that are special, but there are very few that are truly special. P&G Wells is truly special, an absolute gem in Winchester. If you visit Winchester, if you live in Winchester then you must go there, exceptional customer service, excellent product range wrapped up in a little piece of history.

Great little shop. It was my first time visiting a couple of days ago and I was really impressed. I've worked in retail for around 14 years, so customer service is always high on my list. These guys did not disappoint. Really nice and friendly. They didn't have what I needed in store, but, they ordered it in and it was in the next day. Really happy with the customer service and the overall experience. These guys will now be my go to bookstore!
