Disappointing Sunday 18th Sept. Expecting a pleasant lunch once again,
but a total disaster. The usual leaf tea reduced to a tea bag, usual home made sauce reduced to ketchup, the pastry cold and stale, no knife or fork. Being a regular maybe it's just a reduced "Sunday Service" but not worth the effort now to return.
Sad disappointing and at such a reduction of service competing down to the level of a roadside cafe.

Ignore the frankly bizarre low reviews for here, it's a nice cafe/deli in a great location with simple good food and excellent coffee. They could probably do with a second coffee machine for busy times but otherwise it's all good. If you're marking a place down for serviette and spoon positioning then I feel like a relaxed cafe isn't the place for you.

A bit of a let down! I have visited Odd John's (Swithland) twice last year not long after it had opened. And on the basis of those visits being good I decided to lunch with a friend there today.
The staff were pleasant enough and the surroundings were lovely but there were too many negatives from today's experience to warrant me going back.
I ordered a mocha which arrived - but still had the teaspoon in. It wasn't served on a saucer so there was nowhere to put it other than leave it in the mug - which I don't like doing as it would probably have me eye out!
The toasties arrived - and that was precisely what they were - just toasties. No salad garnish - no crisps - no coleslaw. Just 2 slices of brown bread - toasted - with a filling.
And they arrived on the serviette - shouldn't the serviette be on the side rather than being covered in melted cheese and bits from the toastie.
I think it should perhaps stick with offering teas and coffees and cakes as the lunch was a little disappointing.
The atmosphere was further spoilt by the DAB radio playing Capital FM at an uncomfortable level - both the volume and the choice of Channel just didn't seem in keeping with the 'cosy country courtyard' setting.
Either have music sympathetic to the surroundings or no music at all!

Love the country feel eatery. Quirky decor. Friendly staff. Gluten free friendly. Grated proper chocolate on the coffee best thing ever. Very highly recommended. Easy parking
