I went to Beechwood Fine Food recently with my family, including my 10 month old son, for drinks and cake. First off we weren't offered a high chair, no big deal, but given that at time of writing the place claims to be kid friendly on google it would have been helpful, pretty much the first place I've been to which hasn't offered one.

My son had a little of what we were eating and some of his breadsticks and created a bit of a mess of crumbs on the floor.

When we left I stopped at the door and said thanks, and the guy running the place turned to me and said 'would you leave your house like this' across the cafe.

Every other cafe/restaurant I have been to have been great about the mess that is usually created, most say 'no problem at all' or something similar, so I was gobsmacked.

Given that we weren't offered a high chair to sit him in which may or may not have caught some of the crumbs and as I don't carry around a dustpan and brush, I'm not sure what I could have done.

Unfortunately 10 month olds do create mess, and somewhere 'kid friendly' should know this.

Given the rudeness and general unhelpfulness I will not be returning.

Heart of the community run by Toby and Sarah selling only local and British produce. Also great for lunches, cake, coffee and ice cream!

A great range of original wholesome products often not readily available elsewhere with charming owners and a bustling high quality small eaterie. Not many tables so luck of the draw!
Not impressed by the whinge about high-chair availability. It's a small. establishment with attentive owners Toby & Sarah and this must be a one-off.

Upmarket deli + cafe. Lovely owners, always a warm and very good selection of cheeses! We go out of our way to come here :)

Owner was rude to my kid who was choosing which meringue to buy. We just got up and left. Honestly, if you have kids avoid this place.

Smaller than I expected, but a good selection of local produce. Plenty of home made cakes a good change from bog standard mass produced cakes usually on offer. Nice cheese selection, too. Nearby car park free for an hour.

Just love the Beechwood Cafe. The service is first-class and the quality of the food is outstanding. Both Sarah and Toby do just that little bit extra which changes a very good cafe/deli into an excellent one. We can't recommend it too highly.
Ps Best flapjacks ever!!

A lovely small tea room delicatessen cafe serving drinks, cakes and snacks. The shop is an amazing cave of unusual food products and a great place to pick up special gifts.

Run by Toby and Sarah (who makes delicious cakes) opening on June 11th, 2010 and closing May 29th 2021 after 11 years of making customers feel welcome and providing a tremendous service.
