The whole park is your garden and your office is surrounded by the nature, and just enjoy the calm and tranquil atmosphere. But when you go outside the gate, it is a posh and bustling high street. Don’t you think life should be like that? Actually you can own this kind of life easily in London. This time I tried Holland Park, and they have a youth hostel and a cafe and a restaurant inside. Amazing! Most importantly, finally I could smell Spring in London and flowers are in blossom.

Holland Park Cafe

Category: Cafe in the Park

Wifi: reliable and free to use (need a code)

Seating: There are lots of outdoor tables and chairs, and inside also many sofas, small tables and chairs. In the backyard, you could find some wooden tables and chairs. Some power outlets can be found indoors but very limited.

Ambience: Outside definitely it is wonderful and lovely, especially in a sunny day, but inside it may be narrow because it is located under a bridge shape. Still an ideal place to enjoy a piece of peace in the central London.

Cost:
Coffee £1.5-£2.4
Tea £1.25-£1.5

Something special about the cafe:
The park definitely

Problems:
(1) The style is like a old school canteen and the chairs are not comfortable actually.
(2) Difficult to find the power outlets for your laptop and phone.
(3) The food is quite basic and the coffee is average, so the price is a bit expensive in this case.
(4) It is quite busy and the service is slow on lunch time, especially on weekends.

Grabbed a few coffees from here. Queued for at least 10 mins on a sunny Sunday afternoon just before mid-day. There was only one person serving the customers. The coffee was moderately priced for the area, for any extras there is an additional charge. They did not have many non-dairy and dairy milk alternatives, they did not even have soya milk (even though it is on the menu) they offered oat milk, semi-skimmed and full-fat milk. The food did not look too appealing and well over priced too. The coffee was good though, I would definitely return if passing by and if there is not a long queue.

I would give NO stars if I could.

This place is appalling. I recently worked here as an agency barista.

I am literally gagging as I write this, BUT THERE IS ANTS IN THE SYRUP!!!! And I even had to serve people using the ant syrup after discovering an entire colony of ants in the vanilla syrup.

Hygiene is clearly not their top priority.

The location is excellent but the food outlet is a real missed opportunity. A very poor selection of food and stale cakes and biscuits at top end prices. The coffee is watery despite asking for it to be strong! We have tried it on a number of occasions and it has never been great. We now buy a cake and coffee on the high street to have in the park and we noticed this is what most people are doing.
It's a real shame that the Holland Park can't get someone who cares about the business to take on the unit instead of the current company.

The food advertised in the photos on the wall is not what we got: we were asked to substitute poached egg for fried (presumably poaching is outside the chef’s comfort zone) and some of us got no salad.

The food that came looked depressing and tasted worse. Tart of the day was more like a hockey puck (a hard inedible disc), the avocado was tasteless.

Service was dreadful: the girl behind the counter didn’t know what vegetables were in the tart, then talked dismissively about how she deals with customers right in front of us while we were waiting for our food.

Avoid this place and head down to Kensington High Street instead for some proper food and better service.

How do I give zero stars? Staff are beyond slow even with a queue that was out the door and when I finally got through there was a terrible selection of very overpriced sandwiches and wraps. So disappointing as this would be a lovely spot for a decent Gastropub. Why hasn’t Holland Park figured this out yet?

Very disappointing. We had the soup which was supposed to be fennel but was so bland it tasted of nothing except the thickening agent. There were very few people there and no queue. There were 3 or staff chatting behind the counter but they still managed to forget our order and it took over 20mins to arrive. We threw the soup in the bin. We have been going there for years but we won't go again.
