It took ages to queue and order. The kids lunch box sandwiches had run out (at just after 12pm and we didn't find out until we eventually got to the check out) then the food too ages to arrive. They did warn us but we had already been queuing for ages to order by this point. Over an hour from starting to queue to getting the food. On our previous visit half they order didn't turn up after already long wait. They staff were friendly and helpful but not in a rush to go again as it takes so long to get food.

Hard one to review, there are positives here
The staff are lovely
The food is good value
It's usually served quickly
There's a wide range of food including salads and soups (the mozzarella and tomato salad is a personal favourite
But.... All of this is rendered almost mute by the awful ordering system. I'd like to point out that this is in no way a fault of the counter staff who during busy periods have my utmost respect. Having a single person take orders, process payment and make the hot drinks is farcical. I've googled this location, found the review option, written the whole review and have yet to move in the queue as the person being served has ordered multiple lattes. There are 5 people in front of me and I'm fearful I'll over run the car parking limit before I reach the front. In busy periods I've seen people wait up to half an hour to order their dinners which can't be right, by the time it's time to order I feel guilty about asking for a hot drink knowing already seeing the people behind rolling their eyes.
As I say I don't blame the staff as they are working to store/management policy but it truly damages what shod be a quick, pleasant bit to eat.
(Still haven't moved)

Sadly for the second time now there weren't any kids sandwiches which was odd considering it was only 12:30. I appreciate that items run out but the cafe wasn't even that busy which begs the question, was there ever any made in the first place?

"please be prepared to push your trolley off the walkway"

"please stand still and hold the handrail while travelling"

Credit where credits due, the all day breakfast is banging

I have lost count of the number of times the cafe in Swadlincote has no sweetners and you only find out after buying the coffee, today I asked if they had run out in the shop below, the answer given was no but we can't use the sweetener out of the shop!!! Great customer service, Not!!!!!!!
Update:- 1 month after posting there is still no sweetners in the cafe, yet the shelves are full of packs. I expect that shortly they will expand this new cost saving and sell me a pot of hot water with no teabag to accompany my scrambled egg on toast with no bread! Now down graded to 1 star.
