We looked through the front window and thought "How Quaint". There was also a seafood platter advertised on the board outside which caught our attention. On entering the cafe, it took a few minutes before somebody came to seat us. I believe it was the owner Ray. He seated us and at this point the cafe was pleasant and noise level low.

Ray took our order and even returned to ask what kind of bread we wanted with our meal. Then came a group of five men into the restaurant and, without so much as a by your leave, proceeded to move empty table around and in doing so, encroaching on our space. They were very loud and "pushy".

This was the only issue we had as the food was of an acceptable quality. The scampi and white bait was out of the freezer but was "O.K" the portions were good and the salad fresh. The coleslaw tasted good and so as far as the food was concerned, it was fine.

It was just the manner in which the restaurant allowed these men to move tables around willy nilly and not even an excuse me from anybody. Yes, I would return but there are so many Bistros, Cafes and restaurants close by so it would be a while!

My husband, baby, dog & I were warmly welcomed by all staff and served very quickly. The dog was offered water & the baby offered a high chair.

The menu was great, with specials on offer. Our choices were delicious and made with no wait at all. The cake we had was also delicious & a generous size.

Thank you to Ray who answered my email question within minutes of me sending it & then greeted us and asked after our journey so far.

Lovely lunch in the sunny flowery garden. We had goats cheese tart and ham salad with elderflower drinks. Highly recommend this local cafe.

This kind of cafe is a rare breed these days. Good old-fashioned British dishes, tasty, freshly cooked food and homemade cakes. Really enjoyed the bubble and squeak breakfast today, topped with a poached egg and bacon. My husband had a full English breakfast (with extra bubble and squeak) and loved it (special mention for the delicious sausages).

Friendly, welcoming service.

Excellent value. To put this into context, my husband and I had two meals from the all-day breakfast menu, plus a big pot of tea for two, all for £11.00. Later that afternoon, we went to a certain well-known chain of coffee shops and paid £7 just for two coffees. It's a no-brainer.

Dog-friendly.

Well done Lacemaker's Cafe, and thank you. We don't visit Honiton that often, but when we do, we wouldn't eat anywhere else.

Visited this gorgeous little cafe for the first time today with my daughter, I can honestly say it wont be our last. We were greeted by the most lovely young lady who was so lovely and helpful, we ordered two vegetarian breakfasts and topped off with a pot of tea totally fabulose. What an absolute hidden gem, loved it.

The food and service were both excellent. I had the local crab sandwich which was both huge and delicious. Our waitress was extremely jolly and I was sorry not to have any cash on me to leave as a tip. (My husband told me there was no easy way to add service when paying by card - this might be something they want to sort out!)

Have used this place many times going to and fro the southwest with very favourable meals, however, today our meals, ( small breakfasts, and if your not very hungry, judging by the size of this one, dont go for the standard all day one) I am sorry to say, was a little off.
The Bacon cooked, but dry - the black pudding, very similar, which sort of spoilt the meal a little bit.
Having not been there for somewhile because of the restrictions, the premises seemed a little tired and in need of a spruce up, and the toilet area was the same.
I'm not sure if it may have changed hands as the last time we visited, it was run by a father and daughter.
However, the two ladies running it today were attentive and polite, but the decor let it down, although it was totally clean and tidy as you would expect

I recently ordered a home delivery for cooked meals after a friend highly recommended the Cafe. The crab cakes followed by fish pie were equally delicious. The next day we shared the savoury scone with cheese which I warmed and it was divine. The portions are generous and very good value. We have the lamb ragu and lasagne conveniently in the freezer to look forward to. I will definitely be ordering again and spreading the good word.
