Excellent cafe with food to lift your mood! Always a warm welcome and makes a great change to the fake decor/food that is offered in many places. Great value and honest nosh!!

Not very good breakfast. Greesy I felt sick in my stomach. The place is stinking rotten.. Wish I had looked around properly before eating. There was washing powder put on saltfloor to stop the chef from sliping. The chef has a lovely charictor about him. I think it needs to be revisited by inspectors. If it was cleaned up it be a lovely place.

I have been here several times and never been disappointed with the food. From a full cooked breakfast to a Christmas dinner everything has been how it should be.
The staff and owner go that extra mile to make you feel welcome.

A proper full breakfast is always available! It's a decent cafe with no
pretentiousness you find in some places! Beats wetherspoons breakfast attempts hands down! As for "rats droppings in food" as mentioned lower down the reviews......for gods sake!? Get real!!! I have known this of this cafe for 20+ years & never had a bad meal there! Testement in itself really! If you want whistles, bells & folded napkins with flowers on tables, go into town. If you want a nice cooked breakfast, go to the wafes!

People posting these great reviews must have seriously low standards and strong stomach's but then this is newport. Most unhygienic cafe I've ever been in with severe damp on the walls, grease caked tiles on the walls and as for the floor I watched a man do the can can whilst trying to get his table. The food was dripping with grease and not much flavour other than that. Felt sick after eating what food I had. Would only ever recommend the establishment to the English rugby team, other than that stay clear. #enviromentalhealth #shutupshop #rough

Wanted a bacon sandwich, but they didn't have any bacon or mushrooms, so we settled for a sausage sandwich and coffee. We sat down and when we looked around the overall condition of the place was disgusting. How they can sell food in those conditions. The council should close them down.Absolutely disgusting!!

**UPDATE June 2021**

Sadly, Pete the proprietor passed away recently. A top bloke! both he and the Wayfarers will be sorely missed. At the time of writing there is no information as to the future of the cafe. RIP Mate.

My original review

One of the longest running roadside Cafes in Newport . top grub (steak pie with suet pastry is to die for!) Curry special on Fridays. Superb breakfasts / brunches too. Highly recommended.
