Upon opening the cake on the morning of the birthday, the plastic packaging had stuck to the printed image on the front of the cake and peeled away several large patches of the print, completley destroying the design and personalisation.
For the price of the cake, this is totally unacceptable.
We emailed through photos and were told that as we didnt ring them on the day (Easter Sunday!) they were unable to resolve the problem and no refund was offered.
Avoid at all costs, the cake is massively overpriced and poorly produced / packaged.
When a cake costing over £50 is defective and completley ruined - it certainly puts a downer on a birthday.
I want to note how fast the delivery was....but also how it was packaged....so secure in a box within a thick polystyrene box...soo secure and perfect!
I can not recommend this company enough!!!!
Ps. I would have added a photo but we demolished the cake so fast there just wasn't time....
Firstly they called a day before to the recipient to expect a cake delivery which spoiled the surprise and then it was delivered via APC which didn't came in one piece
The cake was hard and doesn't even look fresh. Oreo on top looks miserable !
The order arrived on time but slightly beaten up. The cake itself was quite underwhelming in size and didn’t come with the message on top (confirmed on the phone).
The cake itself, is of poor quality and was undercooked. Completely tasteless and certainly not worth the amount it cost. I wouldn’t recommend this service to anyone, a generic supermarket cake would taste better for a fraction of the price.
2 stars for communication at the start and for delivering on time.
Update: I’ve dropped this now to 1 Star as this company asked me to contact them via email as detailed in their comment. They took a week to reply via phone call and offered a £10 refund as well as free cupcakes. I have yet to receive either.
First the customer service agent called me 4 times to “verify” details that I’d already put on the order, such as phone, and address, picture of my daughter etc. She asked me for phone 2 times even though she was calling me ON MY PHONE! Then when I was put off from the excessive number of calls I tried to cancel the order within 30mins of placing it, but the agent informed me it was not possible!!! That was aggressively customer unfriendly, and basically I was blackmailed into keeping the order.
Finally cake arrives, it looks nothing like the pictures online AND IT IS MISSING THE HAPPY BIRTHDAY MESSAGE!!! To top it all off, the complaints manager called me at 9:40pm AT NIGHT, to try and talk to me, which is totally outside any acceptable customer service call times.
NEVER ORDERING FROM THEM AGAIN!
PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY CAKES FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY ARE A JOKE. READ THE T & Cs BEFORE YOU ORDER ANY CAKES. THEY HIDE UNDER A CLAUSE THAT SAYS IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG WITH THE DELIVERY OR THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAKE THEY CANNOT BE HELD LIABLE. YOU ARE NOT DUE ANY REFUNDS.
What annoyed me was how it looked (nothing like the picture) and crushed a little bit. What got me was the p*@s poor excuse when you call to complain. "It's our delivery partners fault and not our responsibility once it leaves" is not an acceptable response, and a bit of a cop out. Its your responsibility untill it arrives to me. You chose who delivers it, you package it. Take some pride in your products and take responsibility for how your cakes arrive to your customers.
