The cake tasting was very organised. We had the opportunity to taste different flavour of cakes. We initially wanted a 3-tier cake but it was difficult to choose because everything was really yummy! In the end we decided to order a 4-tier!
We asked for our design to have cherry blossoms and gold sash. Our wedding cake had 4 layers: chocolate, lemon curd, red velvet and victoria sponge. We also asked for gluten free and dairy free cupcakes for our coeliac and vegan guests. Our cake topper was made of fondant and it was very cute! Considering that we also had an evening buffet served with our cake, we didn't have leftovers at all! Everything was eaten up! We had around 97 guests in total and I wish we got a 5-tier cake instead. Our family and friends were really impressed with our wedding cake.
Thank you so much Gavin and Anita!!
We had a tasting session where we tried multiple samples, of which all were delicious 😋 and we left high off sugar, half a stone heavier and confident that Putty Cakes were the right choice.
The final result was fantastic with many of our guests praising both the appearance and taste.
We would definitely recommend these guys: amazing company, great communication keeping us updated at every turn, friendly owners and, of course, the cakes are super delicious. Thank you very much 🤵🏻♂️👰🍰🥂
Would thoroughly recommend Putty Cakes to any young bakers out there!
Thanks Gavin!
In August last year, I unexpectedly lost my best friend aged 23. Her 24th birthday was the same day as her funeral so I asked Putty Cakes to create a ‘Me to You Bear’ cake. I really wanted it to be spectacular as it would be the last chance we would have to celebrate her birthday.
When I first collected the cake I was amazed - it was absolutely beautiful. I followed the instructions and carefully placed the cake inside the boot of my car and drove slowly to the wake.
When I arrived, I lifted the lid and the heavy head of the bear had not been secured at all. Meaning it had fallen off and to all intensive purposes the cake which was so important to us had be ruined adding enormous stress and upset to an already awful situation.
The shop had already closed by the time and eventually I got ahold of someone who agreed to come to the address and fix it as best the could. They managed to salvage it a little but it was never the same.
Later when we went to cut the cake - we realised the head was completely and purposely inedible. Made of stale rice Krispys. It was really upsetting to me. I understand certain techniques are used to create cakes but this cake cost in excess of £100 and 1/3 of it was inedible this was never explained when I ordered!!
Not to mention the fact that the heavy head had just be balanced on top of the bears body leaving it a disaster waiting to happen.
When I told putty cakes about my dismay - I was told there was nothing they would to to rectify. The whole experience was really disappointing
