I have always supported local business so when I was looking for a new lens for my camera I went here.
Foolishly I assumed the proprietor was going to give me a good deal.
I asked for a lens and told him I had a maximum of £200 to spend.....at first he wasn't sure if he could help....then he went into his window display (which I was unable to see from within the store and came back with a lens which he took to a back area of the shop. He then re-appeared saying he had this lens at the reduced price of £199. I bought it.
Some weeks later I was looking through the photos I had on my phone and one of them was of the window diplay at this shop, I had taken this a few days before going to the shop to remind me of where it was etc.
I noticed the lens I had bought was in the window priced at £169.....so because I had said I had £200 to spend he removed it and the price ticket from the window and charged me £30 more than his original price......Nice Guy??

a bit of surprise after trawling around the net and visiting Argos, Maplins, and the like. Here is a store, that is accessible, that has stock for cameras going back many years. Yes, maybe the price is high but it is there today - in my case I inherited a dead DSLR with lots of lens and today I have a live DSLR with lots of lens and about 100 pictures trying to learn how to work it. - and I didn't need to pay for parking - and I got a good haircut next door - and a I have smile on my face. Down side is they are bit slow to serve you which means you have time to look round and finish up spending twice as much as you intended - maybe a ploy!

Nice shop if you feel like being looked down upon and spoken to in a condescending manner.
Has the look and feel of an antiques shop and most of the stock is pretty average and over priced.

Fab place to get pictures done for baby's first passports. Quick and stress free for bubs with good results.

Kept getting an error message on my camera. Followed procedures in the manual but didn't make any difference so decided it needed to be checked/repaired.
Had to pay £35 to have it assessed. Was then told it needed a new shutter charge mechanism and would cost me another £199! This was a lot more than I was expecting, more than other places would have charged (I checked online) and ridiculously expensive considering the cost of a new camera. But, having already paid £35, you're a bit stuck.
Also, having said yes to the repair I was told it would be about a week. It wasn't - it took almost a month. Meaning that I ended up going on holiday without it.
Definitely won't be using this place again … feel I've been ripped off!

Super overpriced items makes you feel totally ripped off. BUT the biggest negative is the owner's attitude. He is soooo rude to his customers. Ive been to his shop many times due to last hour needs and never have I ever felt welcomed with his words even though I have bought so many items from him over years. I wish there was few other camera shops nearby so I don't have to go to his.

What a fantastic shop with great customer service! I came in with around 100 medium format slides, over 60 years old, belonging to my lovely grandma aged 96. I had brilliant advice from what I presume was the owner, he was very helpful and none of my (probably silly?) Questions were made to sound silly. He went into great detail and my slides were safe in his hands while he converted them into digital format for me. I cannot thank Longworths enough for the job they have done. These slides are now saved forever and soon to be printed as "hard copies" for myself and my grandma. Something that really means the world to her after not seeing them for years and losing her husband some years ago before I was even born. She was absolutely thrilled looking at them on my tablet and I can't wait to give her the actual photo's. I urge anyone with sentimental slides like this to do the same, it wasn't expensive for the joy this has brought and these are now memories that can be kept forever and we have stopped any deterioration by doing this. I cannot thank Longworth's enough. It was beautiful to have a glimpse into my mum's family life as a child.
