Liked: Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival. Lots of local information offered, walks/bike rides/local pubs. Frozen water pipes and freezing weather conditions didn't affect our weekend away. The cold weather just adds to the magic of this site. Being in the middle of the forest, surrounded by trees and wildlife is breathtaking. Especially when covered in snow and ice. We were even lucky enough to see deer walking through the site.
Electric is available on most pitches. No shower/toilet block, but this has never bothered us.
We have stayed at this site many times over the years, firstly with our children and now on our own. It never disappoints! We will definitely be returning.

Liked: Staff stayed on beyond their closing time to welcome us on our first night. Chose our own pitch looking out into the forest. Watched Roe Deer from the window of the van on the first morning and heard Tawny Owls at night. Fantastic peaceful stay. Good TV reception and patchy mobile phone signal. Already planning a return visit in February

Liked: Quiet, with lovely big space among the woods. Deer roaming freely. Lots of trails from the site. During our stay we walked to Sway and got a taxi from the site to Brokenhurst and Lymington on two separate days……would definitely use this site again to explore the New Forest

Liked: Beautiful location with easy access for twin wheel caravans.

All the wardens are just as friendly as you'd expect from the Camping in the Forest crew :)

Pitches are large, XL pitches are huge. All the pitches are a good distance from each other so for those of us who like 'informal' sites Setthorns ticks all the boxes.

The site is almost perfectly 'in-tune' with its forest environment and has a gloriously dark sky at night - so remember to switch your porch lights off in the evening!

Plenty of wildlife for twitchers and deer lovers but no wild boar to worry about, (unlike the FoD where our dogs search for the hairy b*ggers constantly!)

We've just enjoyed a brilliant week there in early January with -6° temps and frozen streams, rivers and heath - our dogs love this place as much as we do.

This isn't a site for 'fully serviced pitch' weenies..... there's *NO* site toilets or showers so you'll need your own, yep, this is comfotably rufty-tufty without going totally off-grid.... you can have a decent 16amp EHU if you wish so your Ninja can come out to play and you'll only need to get the Cadac out if you really want to!

Plenty of water and CDP points across this huge site. Gray water goes into the CDP.

We don't need wifi or TV reception when we're away so can't rate those, but I reckon if you're worried about those you might be missing the point and value of such a gorgeous location anyway! :)

We loved being able to check out very late for a £3 fee.

Looking forward to getting back there again soon.

Disliked: Having to leave.

Liked: We love this quiet site for New Years eve visits as one of our dogs is scared of fireworks, it's very quiet and we love the fact that you have nature all around you with the pony's, deer and birds getting very close indeed to the van. Great walks along the old railway track and the village and pub are relatively easy walking distance too.

Disliked: No facilities such as toilets or showers means that this site is ideal of 1 - 2 night stays.

Liked: Loved the quietness of the site. Living in London because of the light pollution we do not see many stars - it was fantastic to see so many stars out each nite. Location in the New Forest is great, close to local towns and the beach.

Disliked: We knew there were no toilets and showers before we booked, but never again! Because of the weather, it would have been great to at least have showers to use after getting soaked with the bad weather.
Also, there did not seem to be any maintenance on the site due to it been winter I assume?. There were huge pot holes on the roads up to the pitches, easily could have been filled, with expensive touring caravans travelling over these holes on a daily basis could cause a lot of damage to the vans. The pitches themselves could have been better maintained too, we paid for better pitch (as recommended by the site before we booked), but it was covered in wet leaves and mud. The whole time we were there NO staff were seen doing any maintenance.
We store our van on a small site with a huge storage yard, even the day we took the van out of storage we saw the site manager clearing leaves on the site, if they can do it, why does Settorns not do any maintenance.
Don’t get me wrong, we had really bad weather/rain, but we paid extra for the alleged better pitches, but nothing was maintained on these pitches.
We will never go again which is a shame as a peaceful week is what we wanted.

Liked: Peaceful tranquillity of the woodland, loved the Deer and wild ponies. Lots of woodland walks with large paths to follow if desired. There are beautiful open spaces within the woodland that will give amazing views especially from the higher points. You can walk for miles in this woodland. This is one of my favourite campsites and have returned about six times. There are chemical toilet points rubbish bins and fresh water. The reception area also has some supplies. The site is well maintained and very clean. Will return soon.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Liked: We stayed over the new years period and were thoroughly impressed.
Despite the bad weather, we were entertained with the beautiful walks on our doorstep.
Our pitch was mostly level and non electric - we did not feel this was a problem for a weekend stay in a camper with mild off grid capabilities.
Even though we had a late arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a late pack that directed us to our pitch area and had all the information we required.
Our dog enjoyed the stay over new years as there were no startling fireworks.
We would definitely stay again
