Absolutely fantastic. Best campsite I have stayed in. Bella was really helpful and showed us around when we arrived. The toilets, washing up area and showers were brilliant. There were fridges and freezers to keep your food and drinks in and a charge station for phones, cool boxes etc. The woodland coves were spacious and secluded. There was plenty of room for the kids to run around in, climb trees and have fun. It was the little touches that make this place special. There were free fire pits and logs. I have stayed at other campsites where they charge extra for this. They even had an honesty box to pay for firelighters. All this reflects a warm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It's going to be hard going to a different csmpsite now as I will always compare them to this delightful campsite. Can't wait until my next visit.

First visited In 2017 and loved it, with a promise to return. We did. Easter 2022. Just as fab, just as peaceful and just as perfect. From arrival welcome to delivered evening firewood and, of course, perfect clean ' nearly wild camping ' facilities :)

We've been back several times with different groups of friends. Jessica and the team are so so lovely and so accommodating. Such a beautiful setting for camping!! I've done what feels like 100's of camping trips and Chiltern Retreat is easily my favourite, it has the right balance of everything. Thanks guys for a lovely holiday 🥰

Absolutely loved it!!! Would give it six stars out of five if I could. There are three places you can camp. We chose Woodland. It's also one of the few sites that allow open fires, but at the time I went in mid August, due to the hot dry weather, understandably, open fires are temporarily banned. But you can still cook on Charcoal/Has BBQ as long as minimum of 3ft above ground and great care is taken.
The shower blocks, separate men's and women's shower areas were all very clean and lots of free hot water. Good washing up facilities, and there are freezers, fridges, and areas to charge up phone etc.

You are directed to each woodland pitch by the owner.

The pitches are large and spacious.

The owner was super friendly and helpful.

I didn't go to the others areas of the site, camping in a field etc. But this is supposed to be a off grid style - so no electrical hook up at the pitches

Any downsides?

It is expensive. If you are going as a group, you negotiate a group discount.

I will go back - many times for sure Absolutely loved it! :)

I don’t usually write google reviews but I was so disappointed with the customer service at CRR campsite that I felt I had to write something. We had a reservation at CCR campsite and we’re very much looking forward to going. Unfortunately my partner was in an accident 6 days before and broke his arm meaning he was unable to drive our camper van. I asked if we could change the dates as it was too late for a refund, explaining the circumstances and got a sarcastic response saying under no circumstance do they change dates. Really disappointing and we will definitely not be making any more bookings with them in the future.

Massive thanks to Nicki for this stay over!!
I was looking for somewhere last minute after helping my son move house in the area and needed a place to stay close by, i messaged her and she got back to me fairly quickly with a "Yes we have room".
I'd let her know i was a female travelling alone and needed somewhere to feel safe and she took me into the main padock area where a couple of other people where also camping.
On pulling up there was a fire pit with wood supplied and a picnic bench so i didn't have to mess about with my table and chair.
The shower facility was clean with hot water...always a bonus and nice little washing up area.
Lovely spot to wake up in, will stay again.

Just lovely. Came down in late September for my husband's birthday, and it felt like a true wild escape. Immaculate facilities and pitch, lovely people, and two days of utter peace. We'll definitely be back.

We have camped here many times now, we always chose the woodland camping. Lovely rural camping in the chilterns with lots of walks from the site. There are all the facilities you need when camping, hot showers, washing up area, use of fridge and freezer.
Each woodland pitch has a fire pit and logs are delivered each day. The pitches are huge and private, perfect for family or group camping, we've done both.
Big shout out to the lovely helpful Niki!
