Three stars as the owner is so friendly and helpful.
The campsite is in a lovely rural position and has a pub within walking distance.
However, only one (outside) loo for everyone to share and one shower next door.
Waiting for the loo or shower in the rain is miserable 😢 and once in the shower there is no separate area to change so you have to stand in the mud from your wellies to wash!
Hoping that a new indoor toilet/shower block with basins will be built soon offering shelter from the elements.
Having said all that, we will go back, it's in a great place.

Very basic campsite. Facilities are a bit rough and therefore pricy for £20. Very friendly welcome though and had quiet night and lovely meal at The Ring next door.

Liked: We were relieved it was open to be honest, being January. Reception was friendly. Toilets were basic but clean. The pub next door is lovely. Convenient location for the north of the island. Quiet.

Disliked: It was a little run-down, needed a bit of a refurb. There was a bit of dog poo around. No recycling facilities that I could find.

Liked: The owner, Len, was a really nice chap and tried his best to be helpful and on our arrival showed us where everything was located. We had cause to complain to Len and he was very understanding and sympathetic to our complaint. To be fair to him we didn’t give him the chance to resolve the issue because it would have created some quite nastiness with another customer, we thought it better to leave, which we did after only 2 days in to a 6 day stay. We complained about dog mess all over the field and by the waste bin and about the said other customer allowing their 3 dogs to roam the site off the lead and also wandering all over our pitch and at the back of our van, this was dogs and owner. After we’d left Len contacted us to tell us he’d confronted the other customer about our complaints. They denied their dogs had made the mess, however they then decided to go round the field and pick it up ! Very odd ! They did agree to keep the dogs under adequate control but of course, for us, it was too late. We felt sorry for Len because we genuinely felt he was trying his best.

Disliked: The people pitched opposite allowing their dogs to roam wild all over the site and round our pitch, the owner even followed the dogs round the back of our van on numerous occasions and walked all over our pitch, what a damn cheek, I would never dream of venturing on to someone else’s pitch uninvited ! And of course the dog poo around various parts of the field was disgusting. To be honest but not wanting to criticize Len, the shower room was something a little bit to be desired, old and dated and could be cleaner, however we weren’t too bothered as we have a good shower in the van. Len informed me on my arrival that he intends to demolish the shower block and build 2 new showers for the coming season. We felt he was doing a difficult job under difficult circumstances with atrocious weather and water everywhere, coupled with a difficult customer and their roaming dogs, and that with a little investment and a firmer managerial hand, the site could be much better and more viable. I always think things are open to abuse when a site owner doesn’t live on site and doesn’t have a strong presence during the day. Would I go again ? Maybe, yes, in better weather the place could be nice and peaceful, no one knows what certain customers are going to behave like till it is too late and they are on site making a mess.

Liked: Location, good cell single

Disliked: I originally booked a tent pitch with electric for 40 pounds and paid my 6 quid deposit online as you do meaning I had 34 to pay on the door. I forgot my electric cable and I let the owner know in the hopes he my might offer a non electric pitch and remove the extra four charge for it as it would not be required. Instead after a long drive I get to the campsite to be told I owe him 40 quid. I said I paid 6 pound deposit online but he was firm it was 40. I specifically bought 35 with me so now I have to scramble for change in my car to pay the extra fee. I was to tired to argue after my drive to argue with him about it, but he either doesn't know how deposits work, or he doesn't care about ripping off the people who pass through.

Besides from that lots of dead flies in the lights of the facilities, not a huge issue, but could be easily rectified by using a bin.

Liked: Small site pub 100mts away

Disliked: The toilet and shower was the worst I have ever seen in 20 years of going to sites no tiles and dirt up the walls. About 100 flys trapped in the lights stayed 1 night and left. Don't bother.

Great little campsite, basic facilities reflected in the price, as the pitches are limited in number the wait for the shower or the washing up facilities is never long. Great like minded company and amazing sky at night and nice pub nearby, Len the owner is a really nice guy and very easy going. Will definitely return
