Can't fault our latest dealings with Eden Honda.
I arrived at 6:30 on Tueasday to find the dealership closed.
It was a 1,5 hour journey, 32 miles for nothing. I needed the service urgently as my car does not start sometimes but I will not go back to a service like this. I will spend my money somewhere else.
They changed the ball joints on my old CRV in June, at my request as preventative maintenance. The car was in for several hours longer than it was supposed to be and the rep I was speaking to told me they were having a tough time fitting, but it was eventually done and I collected the car.
3.5 months later the sway bars needed doing, so for convenience I used my regular mobile mechanic that I’ve used for years. He found that one of the ball joints had clearly been damaged during fitting, pretty much the only way this part can be damaged like that in his opinion. Has to be replaced.
Having paid Eden nearly £500 for the work 3 months ago, I immediately called them for a resolution. Perhaps I shouldn’t have been surprised, they denied that they ever make mistakes, didn’t want to see photos, didn’t want to see the car - flatly told me something must have happened between now and then and they weren’t interested in doing anything about it…. This is a part that typically lasts more than 20 years, their excuse is that it’s been 3 months since they did them so something could have happened - yeah right.
If the ball joints go on these cars, the entire assembly collapses and the wheel will end up on its side, it’s a big accident if you’re travelling at speed.
Had I not decided to use my regular mechanic for the next job I’d still be ignorantly driving around thinking this important bit of maintenance was covered. Instead it’s worse than when I brought it to them.
Not only did they let an unsafe car leave the workshop - they can’t even bring themselves to look at their poor work again and make an assessment, will not even entertain the possibility that a very easy mistake to make, was made. This is how they operate, their mistakes are your problem. Unless you are capable of assessing their work immediately after they’ve done it, take your money elsewhere.
