Carmen's Caribbean Kitchen

Food was advertised as a combo meal which includes “5 sides” of coleslaw, potato salad, mixed salad, dumpling and plantain for £10 and a small meal for £8. We waited an hour and a half and was bitterly disappointed.

Portions were tiny and the “sides” were less than a teaspoon. The pork was non existent, shredded, dry and inedible as you can see in the photos. It also didn’t have any jerk flavour apart from the jerk sauce. Plantain was burnt and the dumpling was dry and oily.

Gutted to have spent £18 and waited an hour and a half for this. It just shows that there’s no respect for customers.

Love the food, Carmen works very hard and you can tell, forget the previous review! The business shouldn’t be judged on a one off caused by feckless staff while the owner’s head is turned!!

Love the curried goat with rice and peas - and plantain on the side. Carmen always has a smile as well.

I ordered Carmen’s combo menu for my son’s 18th birthday as we always go to her stall at St Albans market and it’s his favourite. She’s always so friendly and her food is amazing. Everyone said the food was delicious, the only negative is that there wasn’t any left for the following day. Thanks Carmen, see you soon 🙏🥰
