This is a beautiful and peaceful space which, for those who believe in the risen Lord, will certainly have a chance to encounter him here if you wish. But even if you do not believe, I would recommend a visit. The architecture is stunning and creates a sense of space and calm. It also is a peaceful place and provides a space to be calm and quiet. There are an ever changing display of exhibitions and art installations which can be thought provoking.

Built between 1936 and 1961 and designed by Edward Maufe , Guildford Cathedral is one of the newest addition to the UK's family of Cathedral buildings .
To some from the outside it may look rather austere but if you look again you may see the striking beauty of this place . At first expected to cost £250000 to build money ran out during WW11 and was completed with the buy a brick campaign . I loved the sculptures of the seven gifts of the spirit down the side of the building . Also the giant cross to the rear near the memorial garden . This cross was made with Burma teak from the battleship HMS Ganges . The 15ft gilded angel on top of the tower apparently is part of the weather vane and rotates in the wind . And was donated in memory of a Sgt Reginald Adgey-Edgar of the Intelligence Corp who died in 1944 .
The very nice lady on the desk informed me it stood alone when first built but now has the Hospital and University for company . When you enter you are stuck by light and taken back by the enormity of its size . I loved the font and a rather ornate Byzantine style painted cross which I forgot to ask more detail about but loved . A touching memorial to Police Officers who lost their lives on duty . Thank god for them .
Wonderful visit the staff are great and made me feel most welcome .

The most Imposing structure in Guildford that draws you closer from miles. The location on hilltop couldn't ve been more suitable. The architecture is very plain more like Scandinavian though compared to many gothic European cathedrals.

Calm and serene, my frame: that's what visiting Guildford Cathedral did for me. There I experienced a calm and heavenly rest, a light to shine upon the road that leads me ... on and out to resume my life. A precious visit. Thank you.

I attended a few cathedral services. The services and readings were beautiful, as was the music and the magnificent cathedral surroundings. However, I did not find the people in the cathedral to be friendly or welcoming. As someone keen to explore and deepen into my faith, I am not sure if I will attend in person again.

The viewed from a distance somewhat austere exterior is no indicator of a superb up close appearance and the soaring msrvellous space inside. Amazing acoustics, convenient parking, delightful place of worship.
