Barn Owls Cattery

I’d done some research online for local catteries and decided this was the one I would book our new cat in for a trial few days.

I had looked through the website and explained to my mum why I thought this was ‘the one’ despite it being slightly more expensive than others.

Unfortunately the phone call put me off entirely.

The lady I had the misfortune of speaking with had one of the rudest telephone manners I’ve experienced for a long time. She was short, sarcastic and couldn’t have been more disinterested in my enquiry.

I was shocked and bitterly disappointed. After reading the other very positive reviews on google I was left feeling it must have been my fault to have been spoken to in this unpleasant manner.

I hope others who call to enquire are not spoken to the way I was. It made me question how my cat would be cared for if this is how prospective customers are spoken to.

I used this cattery for the first time having moved to Kent from Hertfordshire. I have always had very good experiences before but unfortunately not this time. When my husband dropped Darcy off there was confusion as the owner, Amanda, assumed that she was a different cat and initially put her in the wrong pen. She then said that we hadn't paid enough as she thought our booking was for two cats, not one.

On collecting Darcy there was again confusion. We had left the vaccination booklet by mistake on arrival and the owner had kindly rung and said she would look after the book until we picked her up. When my husband picked Darcy up and asked for the book, the owners denied they had the book and, when my husband passed the phone to me, Amanda very rudely told me to ring the vet to get a replacement book (which contains 10 years medical records) and that they didn't have time to look for the book. Amanda then realised that she did have the book which had been put in the wrong pen.

Although Darcy seems fine physically, I do wonder how she was treated if there was so much confusion and carelessness. The owners were rude in their dealings with us over this issue and I think their people skills are sadly lacking. When my husband arrived to collect Darcy, the first thing he was told was that she "wasn't a very friendly cat" as she had got up into the eaves and the owner was going to have to try and get her down with a broom! I will not be using this cattery again.

Good clean comfortable premises for the cats. Friendly helpful staff. Reasonable rates.

This was our first time leaving our cat for any length of time. I chose Barn Owls from reviews and a visit I made prior to booking. The location is lovely and remote. The team were all very friendly and knowledgeable. I even asked for an update (needy parent), and they were so tolerant and kind. Paulie was well-cared for and returned to us calm, well-fed and unphased. Will definitely use again.

I was a bit nervous to leave my two cats for the first time and after reading so many high rated reviews for Barn Owls cattery they were the obvious choice, and it’s a choice I am glad I made! When we arrived the lady was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The rooms are quite spacious over different levels for the cats to explore and they were very clean. I loved that we could go in the rooms ourselves and get the cats all settled in. Each of the rooms has the cats profiles on the door so they had all their information readily available. One of my cats is an incredibly fussy eater so I brought my own food with them for their stay. The lady was very accommodating and even gave me back the food that was left over at the end. Very happy with my experience and I would definitely recommend! I will be using Barn Owls again if I ever need to!

Caring and lovely people running the cattery. Have been using them for year now and our cat settled in really well every time and is looked after exceptionally well.

We left our two cats at Barn Owls Cattery for a week over summer and a week in October -both times our cats were well looked after and happy! They settled in so well the second time that they didn't really want to leave! The cattery is very well maintained, with a good amount of space in each pod..and heated beds! Toys, beds, scratching posts are all provided although you can bring your own if you want. The staff are super friendly and professional. They are very accomodating and helpful- will definitely come back again. Thanks very much 👌

We are trusting these wonderful and caring individuals with our old cat and we feel 100% safe with them. Their cattery is clean and very well maintained. All the cats we saw were happy and well looked after.
