Well is it a grave or is it a memorial, I'd say a bit of both. It's now newly fenced off and gained a blue plaque no less. Anyway, it is what it is, so has to get 5 stars. The story it tells is far more intriguing than the stones themselves. If you Google him you will find he was an actual local man from Hemel and his name never was Robert Snook which is considered a corruption of Robber Snooks.
When I was attending the overlooking senior school Bourne Valley Comprehensive (now a housing estate) back in the 1970s, we were told he was hung, drawn and quartered, but apparently, he was only merely hung, so not such gory glory after all.
Oh, and if anyone out there really likes hats, I've met his living relative who owns the hat and outfitters shop T Snook in the lovely town of Bridport in Dorset. The Tricorn hat I'm wearing alas did not come from him, but it did come from a Pirate's wife!
