What can you say about one of the magnificent seven cemeteries from the Victorian era.
We are lucky it is within walking distance from where we live, so get down there quite often. The Victorian stone masons produced excellent quality carving and ornamentation. A lot of notable graves down there Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and his family. Decimus Burton who designed the Temperate House at Kew Gardens and much else. On Sundays there are tour guides who can show you around for a small fee. Especially lovely during Spring and Summer when the birds are out singing, all the nature that inhabits the place. Please be respectful and take your litter away, this is a special place to visit especially if you want some quiet time, very tranquil there

One of London's Magnificent Seven Victorian cemeteries. It's still accepting burials so better maintained than Highgate or West Norwood. Mix of over the top monuments, to the great and good, to family graves for locals. Definitely worth a visit if it's your sort of thing.

Nice enough cemetary - highlights are the graves of Brunel, Charles Babbage and Prince George. Some areas were lovely with trees and shade but others were quite barren of green. A nice place to get lost but I found that there were quite a few cars driving in the cemetery. And, no toilets that I could find! I have now seen a response that there are toilets in the crematorium building -good to know as there is nothing indicated on the maps at the entrance to the cemetary, nor is there there signage in the cemetary itself.

A lovely cemetery, if a little unkempt. Depending on your mood or standards you may find that charming or unacceptable. Many historic figures rest here and there are lovely surprises for people of all nationalities. Beautiful trees. The Catholic side of it is more orderly and better taken care of. I hear burying your loved ones here can be quite dear. A really nice, quiet walk in all seasons.

I'm a Freddie Mercury fan. That's why I want to get to this cemetery, to his grave, on my own two feet. Looking on Google, it is very beautiful, if you can say so, full of old graves. I've always been afraid of cemeteries, but this is so peaceful.
