Brilliant morning doing the west side tour thanks to our incredible guide Eleanor. I was a little sceptical of paying to do the tour but was proven wrong and highly recommend it. Such fascinating stories and insights into Victorian life provided engagingly by El made the tour and our morning a real delight! My favourite epitaph for a Mr William Sly who passed in 1892: ‘He meant well’ 😂😂

I arranged four searches of my ancestor’s graves, and we were shown to the graves by Claire in April. It was a fantastic experience, especially for my dad who had not visited his father’s grave in over forty years. Highgate is a beautiful and special place, full of natural beauty and birdsong. The staff are passionate about its preservation. I look forward to returning.

Such a haven of nature and peace with amazing architecture and such a wonderfully atmospheric vibe.
The staff could not have been more helpful and the 2 maps (East and West) that are free with your entry fee are so helpful.
We will return because we need to devote more time to do it justice. Highly recommended.

As the seasons change, there's always something different to see. I always find cemeteries tranquil & it's definitely that at Highgate. More than one visit may be needed especially if you like reading the inscription on the headstones, some sad, some uplifting & a few provide a chuckle too. Comfy shoes a must, due to tree roots especially on the west side ,it can be a bit bumpy. Guides walking around & always happy to answer questions but there is the opportunity to join a guided tour . Thoroughly enjoyed my time there & no doubt will return soon.

As Spaniard, british cemeteries seem exotic. An authentic green bloom, full of vegetation, while our hot weather makes cemeteries a grey concrete landscape.

In this cemetery, you'll encounter the tomb of the Father of Socialism, that does really well dead. And many other's remarkable people.

Truly incredible place!
I visited for an 11am guided tour around the West side of the cemetery. Nicola, our volunteer tour guide, was so welcoming, knowledgeable and engaging. Myself and everyone on the tour would have happily walked around with her all day. I would thoroughly recommend visiting this enchanting place if you like the macabre.

We went on a tour of the west cemetery with tour guide Peter. Such an interesting and amazing place. Peter was informative and engaging and brought the place to life ( no pun intended). Spotted a fox and squirrels in this woodland cemetery. Would highly recommend a tour.

Such a cool place! It’s beautiful, peaceful and mysterious. Nice to read all the tomb stones and also interesting people buried there. The West cemetery is where they have the more gothic looking things and more spooky, the East is where you see more familiar names (although it’s more like a normal cemetery).
