Service provision at this Day Centre is erratic and unreliable; with frequent random, unexplained, closures - for weeks at a time in some instances - which leave Service Users stranded and without alternative sources for basic services such as laundry and showers.
As I write this review, West London Day Centre has been closed since Monday 22 August 2016 and will not re-open until Monday 05 September 2016 - in two weeks time. No reason has been given to
Service Users for this extended closure and it takes place at a time when almost all other Day Centres in Westminster and surrounding London Boroughs will be closed, due to the Bank Holiday on Monday 29 August 2016.
Like the other two mixed Day Centres in Westminster, (The Passage, Connection at St Martin), West London Day Centre is heavily over subscribed by eastern europeans: who are crowding out British Citizens.
Homeless British Citizens (in some instances chronically homeless - having been without accommodation for more than 12 months continuously) then find that they cannot access basic services (hospitality, showers and laundry) at this location.
Many of the problems observed at this and other Homeless Day Centres can be attributed to mismanagement: well remunerated managers who either don't really know what they are doing and/or don't care - after all, good or bad, regardless of the effect of their ineptitude on Service Users, they get paid either way at the end of the day.
Maybe if they were paid by results there would be some improvement in the standards of day-to-day provision at this and other Homeless Day Centres in Westminster.
