Beautiful little nature reserve tucked away just off the A470. You can see salmon leaping from mid-November. There's a great circular walk around the valley, very tranquil. The visitor centre opens for special events - check the website.

Brilliant! I've been going for 25+ years, and there's always something different to see. Lots of walks, the beautiful river and kites overhead. Redstarts, Pied Flycatchers, Cuckoo's, etc., Green Hairstreak butterflies, lizards, otters and many more to be found. The visitor centre has enough facilities and there's a hide overlooking the river.

We visited Gilfach Nature Reserve 5th May 2017 after a recommendation. This reserve is a gem in the Mid Wales countryside. We were greeted by Phil, one of the wardens, who showed us around and described the history of the farm and locality. Thoroughly enjoyable day, we will certainly be going back.

Beautiful nature reserve.

An interesting drive to get here and look out for Red Kites and other rare birds as you drive up.
Lovely woodland walks, although not for those who don't like going off road and doing a bit of hillwalking.
Staff were really welcoming and knowledgeable and we had a lovely cuppa to warm us up whilst the kids were taken around the visitor centre displays.
Not the largest Visitor Centre or facility I've been to but top marks and kudos to the team there for maintaining it and bringing it to life for the kids.

Nice reserve but some very strange rules and regulations which we found off putting. Officious volunteers let the reserve down.
