Decided to try the garage out after Ian gave me some friendly advice about on street parking in the area! Just had my MOT done with only a few bulbs to replace - friendly, honest service - happy to recommend! Cheers. Q.
took my modified Subaru in as i was told the manager Ian has extensive knowledge of these and its true.
they took on my job of fitting a uprated clutch and flywheel assembly and also carrying out a gearbox and engine oil change and fitting of k sport brakes all round, they carried it out to a high standard and also pointed out a power issue i never knew of and Ian replaced the part with one off his own car, and now my scoob is back into beast mode :P
i cant rate them any higher.
and the price surprised me as all previous quotes i had gave me a scare and i had to confirm with them what i wanted doing to the price they gave me seemed low. but no it seems there passion for cars is higher than there cost of working on them.
this is now my go to garage.
anyone who is looking for anything doing especially on non standard and modified cars give these guys a try.
also the free tea and biscuits was an added bonus :D
ian and the guys i will see you again soon.
Would highly recommend this garage. I've been extremely happy with them. No complaints at all.
NOTE: There are a few people from Mitcham Motors involved in this so giving the benefit of the doubt I would say communication is probably not top there so raising my rating to TWO stars because they are super friendly.
1. We took the car in because the heating was not working, they managed to "temporarily fix" (what they said) however they said they needed to replace the heating loom.
2. They called us up later telling us the heating loom had arrived though it was the wrong part and to bring the car in so they can identify the part again to see if they can get a better replacement (I guess an alternative one not from vauxhall it sounded like from comms).
3. We took the car back and they said "is the heating working?" to which we replied "yeh it is been working!". They said "Ok then! nothing to fix!" so we went off thinking its all sorted.
4. Later we discovered that on the passengers side, a panel that covers the heating was taken off (though some plastic parts of it looks like its broken off from something though not sure at this moment, will find out later) and put into the boot of the car.
5. My missus quite upset when down there to show them the broken parts and ask what is going on?
6. I had a phone call with them though the receptionist (I think the lady that left the reply to this review) decided to deflect (I say deflect because normally one would say "sorry, please let me hand you over to [Colleague Name]") my communication to the mechanic who cleared a few things up.
7. They said they were expecting us to come back in to get the heating loom fixed though need to identify it (which we did in step 3).
8. I decided not to use this company again and taking car to another place for second opinion of the loom.
9. During my phone call with the mechanic I got cut off, though it was strange because the Mechanic and myself were coming to a good understanding.
MY OPINION
Taking parts off and not putting them back on is insufficient customer communication. especially when the parts expose dangerous components to people you said yourself it exposes a fire risk, imagine what situation you would be in if a child burned there legs there or worse?
UPDATE:
THANKS MITCHAM MOTORS for the reply, we are disappointed you did not tell us you left off those parts from the car for later and gave no warning. Passengers sit in that side of the seat not safe with exposed heating components. I think communication was insufficient in this case, we were led understand the car was fine - you said that car was fine and never contacted again (not meaning you as a person though as a collective of those people at Mitcham Motors that were involved in this case), if you are struggling to know who did what and who saw who you can't leave that to the customer who is left in this situation where they had no idea who they spoke to on what day, a good business takes on problems and solves them, including customer relations, I do hope you understand this perspective and can see some light in doing the right thing which is the whole point of this review.
Thank you in adviance for your understanding
Mitcham Motors are my go to mechanics. 😁
