Mandarin Palace

Most of the items were not available. Rice was almost cold. Soup was nice and warm. Ambience not great. Not sure if one can say it’s value for money because many other places offer lunch buffet at similar prices but of much better choice and quality. But noted that this is not long after Covid restrictions lifted, hence individual businesses struggle to survive. Suggest fewer dishes but better quality to ensure repeat business.

Not sure were to start. This has to be the WORST chinese shop that I have ever had the misfortune to try. It is supposed to be an "eat as much as you like lunch buffet". The lunch hours are supposed to be 12:00 noon to 3:00pm. We arrived at 12:35pm & saw that there were only about ten other customers already there. When we went to get some food, we found that out of the twenty items on offer that some were already completely empty, the other food that was there was nearly running out even though they had only been open for 35 minutes. We decided to wait for a while so that they could top up the trays (as this is supposed to be an unlimited buffet) but this DID NOT HAPPEN. We just could not believe that they could treat customers this badly. We then thought we would just get the last tiny amounts that were left in the hope that they would top up the food but this never happened. It is totally unacceptable to cheat people in such a way. We left at 1:15pm as we realised that they were definitely not going to supply any more food. It's as if they put out a very small amount of food & when it runs out, that's it, you are not getting any more. They are taking money but not supplying an unlimited buffet. An utterly disgusting awful place well worth avoiding. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Food was lovely and a good selection of food. Can't grumble for the price, and staff are really nice.

Went there on Saturday, 7th May, just after 2 pm. Paid £8.50/ person, they insisted cash only. Hardly anything to eat. Only cold bland fried rice, rice crackers and a spoonfuls of black pepper beef. Nothing else. Waitress and the manager said the food will be replenished, but never did and they never said anything. They closed at 3 pm so we left hungry, disappointed as food was tasteless and service was very poor. I would not go back and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Eat as much as you like, set price includes soft drink and dessert. Food good value, love this place, been going there for years.

Limited selection, overpriced buffet, male staff member comes across as very rude, toilets not clean, food not always ready for the buffet. Gave two stars just because the female staff members are very friendly.

Absolutely disgusting, the worst place I have ever eaten. The high chairs were extremely dirty - hygiene is a big problem with this place. Hardly any food at the buffet and the soft drinks aren’t even branded, I would say they are watered down. Never again!

We ordered the chicken wings yesterday around lunchtime and regret spending my money on that. You could smell them across the room as if they were left out in the restaurant overnight and the chicken was pink inside. The smell alone made me nauseous. Usually we have no problems ordering from here and love the food in the evening but at lunchtime, it was awful. not making that mistake again
