I would give 0 stars if I could. Just had our order re collected. And a refund given. After 20 mins the food come. Our chillies and salt chips did not even have salt never mind chillies. And where undercooked. The shredded chicken was grey. Undercooked and tastes like batter only. Absolutely shocking considering they charge £5 more than we've ever paid for the same food from a diff Chinese.

Had beef curry and chilli chips. Meal was awful chilli chips had hardly any chilli in beef curry was lumpy and tasted like cleaning fluid. The worst I have ever had would never go back. This place has gone down hill fast over the last year.

Having found that the other local Chinese Take Away had started to suffer in quality due to new management decisions in ingredient selection/preparation choices, I tried switching to an alternative source for Chinese meals. As New Hong Kong is in easy walking distance it seem worth giving a try. Unfortunately several experiences and trying different dishes from the menu has proven this an unwise choice. Everything I have tried is masked by a rancid taste that appears to come from the oil being used to fry items in during the cooking process.

Dishes, even standard fare that from past experience from other Chinese establishments that have been been well flavoured, from here are so bland that other than the taste of the previously mentioned foul oil are indistinguishable other than name and basic looks. An example being the humble Pancake Roll, usually a mixture of precooked brown chicken meat, Chinese roast pork, small shrimp, spring onion, finely chopped ginger, Chinese spice and rice wine vinegar mixed with bean sprouts and wrapped in a layer or two of fine Chinese filo style pancakes then deep fried. Such a tasty treat when executed with a modicum of care, from New Hong Kong is bland, heavy with the pervading rancid taste of aging or cheap oil - I have thrown one and three quarters out of the two rolls of the portion in the bin as it really didn't feel right to continue trying to eat it.

Nothing else I have ordered from New Hong Kong has been a significantly better culinary experience, it would be unfair to assume chef's don't have days when they don't feel inspired, but my experience of this establishment is totally uninspired cooking with a really restricted pallet of ingredients in oil that I would question is fit for human consumption.

The tastiest Chinese I've had in years. Our order came late but all was forgiven after tasting it. Truly special!

Great food and very nice people. I didn't knew name of dish I wanted to buy, but explained how it looks and staff knew what I want to buy. Very helpful people.
