Nice and atmospheric ruins. No facilities or parking, I just came across it on a walk.

What a lovely little find tucked away unassuming on a small hillside.

The history of the church is very interesting, especially if you are interested in wartime remains.

The church is still well kept too, and a pleasure to walk around.

The views from the ruins are also very pretty.

It is small and has a small car park, so be prepared for that, this is not a "whole day" excursion.

This has always been a lovely monument and a place of peace and quiet. Unfortunately it has been sold to English Heritage and now has fencing around the church and is overgrown meaning the grave stones are at risk of damage. Hopefully restoration is being planned.

I've been there years ago but went to try and find ut a couple of weeks ago( writing this on 9th Jan 2023) Put the post code in Google maps & again in our Tomtom satnav but both times we ended up in a place with wood fencing, could not find it anywhere! Any pointers to driving to it from Margate very welcome, this is one place I'm desperate to see again.

The church of St. Mary was an ancient stone building in the Perpendicular style, and had a tower containing 5 bells: the east window and others were memorials to the Cheesman family: in the aisle was an effigy of a knight in armour, and brasses and monuments to the Darell family: the church was restored in 1876-7, at a cost of £1,200, and could seat 150 worshippers. Hit by a bomb in World War 2.

Took a jog from Pluckley through vineyards to get here. Great fun. Plenty of the ruins to see

Beautiful ruined church tower and adjacent building. Tower surrounded by metal fence due to danger of falling stone work. Parts of the church floor can still be seen and a small amount of graves from late 19th/early 20th century are still there.

Parking nearby is difficult as road next to it is a major road. We stopped about 100 yards further up (after having passed the ruin on our left) on the right between 2 gates to fields.
