This church was our refuge and where our lives got transformed once we understood the doctrines of Grace (A part of Calvinism) which turned our lives around!
In short, this was a church where you would be exposed to expository preaching of the word and we went through the glorious upper room chapters of the gospel of John every Sunday.
Phil Arthur was their pastor when we went there and his sermons laced with many historical references and characters helped us understand the truths and captured our imaginations.
The lovely part is that the church never even once forced the doctrines of Grace which might be unpalatable to common men who are rebels against God but the implications of these doctrines were there for anyone to see in how they followed the 5 solas in practice. The Devotion on Psalm 33 helped us understand that the sovereignty of God
The seniors among them with open hearts treated us with love and care inviting us to their homes making us feel comfortable.
It was beautiful to see that as a church they had ZERO issues with even special abled people or those with mental health disorders and never frowned upon these folks, thus fulfilling what Jesus taught as loving the least of these. And we were a culturally diverse group as well having Africans, Asians, Americans and of course the local people.
I will never forget how faithfully some of the church members would pick us up from campus for service on time.
Also the love and personal care I got when going through a family tragedy that helped me recover from a bout of depression.

Unpleasant and unfriendly leaders and congregation. Theology might be good but there are friendly and more pleasant churches in the city.
