An simple red brick exterior and an unassuming courtyard hardly suggests the splendid interior; a showcase of devotional craftsmanship.
The effortlessly “floating” painted dome, carved Grinling Gibbons altar an elaborate pulpit and alms box from 1694 prominent here.
An unusual metal hydrant (1841) embedded in the exterior wall in the alleyway; the patina and ambience here, marvellous.
Quite splendid and recommended unreservedly
The premises are really impressive. Grinling Gibbons and other C18th artists were paid handsomely to embellish Christopher Wren's elegant building.
All in all, this church is well worth a visit even if you don't want to worship. Recommended.
