Beautiful Norman church, fabulous dogtooth carved arches inside and beautiful 19th century stencilling on the east wall. Remember to pick up the keys from the nearby Ibis Hotel

A well preserved Morman Church dating from 1170 and built by the Earl of Northampton. Built on an earlier Saxon site dating from around 500- 650 AD. This whole area was also a Danish settlement and an important town for them. This must have had connection to the now lost Northampton Castle, which is the present site of Northampton Station. It was closed the day I visited so could only gauge from the outside. Built using the warm orange Northants quarried stone.

St Peters church in Marefair is now looked after by the Church renovation trust having been de-consecrated in recent years. There are so many stories the walls of that structure could tell, if it were able. All of the ornate designs that were part of the original church interior were plastered over for hundreds of years to prevent King Henry V111 and his cohorts were destroying religious buildings. The during the nineteenth century a lady who resided in Hazelrig House spent over 30 years picking all the plaster off to reveal its beauty once again.

Stunning Romanesque features in a 12th century building. Excellent Norman stonework, incredibly intricate capitals and archway. A hidden gem

Beautiful place. The coffee shop that is inside is very nice. Prices reasonable too. The church itself is well worth a look. So pretty in the middle of the town. Also sounds fantastic if you are lucky enough to hear the bells ringing.
