St Mary's Church in Beddgelert stands on the site of a 6th century Christian community. The current church building arose in the 13th century with an Augustinian priory.
The priory was destroyed in 1284 and the remaining chapel building was demoted to a simple parish church after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century.
The Victorians restored large portions of the church and the remaining medieval features are the trancept arches and lancet windows.

Wonderful church with ancient medieval spirit. Lovely atmosphere & beautiful carved wooden screen. Outside there is really large & well laid out and maintained village graveyard! You can also light candles & pray inside the main church which has a small shop with postcards & gift items.
