Matalan

I visited matalan with my daughter and grandson to look at children's clothing. I loved the wide selection of boys clothes. The quality is very good. Staff are very helpful. When I was not able to find the size needed, the staff member said that I could order online and pick them up in store. This was good for me but the only drawback would be if you were not computer literate. Or had no access to a computer. The shop is clean and well laid out. Wheelchair and buggy access is good.

Well Matalan exceeded my expectations with the most ineffective method of handling the Covid situation. As a customer I spent twenty minutes outside the shop in pouring rain with a queue of about twenty people all getting soaking wet, waiting to enter the store. It was back to school time so a few families were waiting patiently. Finally I complained after watching a stream of at least forty people leaving through the same door that this should have justified allowing a few in. Finally we were in. Then that’s where the problems really started as there were no directions marked on the floor and the rails are still the old configuration so no matter what way you go, squeezing passed rails and other shoppers is inevitable. I did not feel there was any social distancing going on at all. I shopped in haste so I could leave as quickly as possible but then the next problem was at the tills. The queues were as long as they usually are and again no spacing between customers and no one in the least interested in trying to rectify this problem. The customer experience was absolutely dreadful and I have made a promise to myself I will never return to Matalan no matter how inexpensive they are. The staff aren’t interested in anything other than themselves They talk to each other like there is all the time in the world. There is clearly no pride in the store or any interest in who they serve. The store was filthy and there were clothes everywhere. I’m done with Matalan - Customers deserve better.

What a total and utter igronant company no regards for a customer info, bad customer service shocking, email the company and told them that I won't be in so post to neighbour's house, ignored my emails the delivery guy just thrown the item behind the gate without going to the my neighbours house, wish to give less then one star and not buy anything from this selfish company! No consideration whats so ever no way to do business!

Thanks to the rude staff at Matalan Ipswich for not allowing my heavily pregnant wife the use of their toilet. Given the circumstances I'd like to think any decent person would allow such an exception but apprently it's "company policy"

The wait for service at the tills at the Ipswich Store is Unacceptable.
I will not use self service tills, but this seems to be the way the company is heading obviously cutting out staff. Whatever happened to customer service?
I told the young lady on the tills, that I had seen 2 people walking out with clothes on hangers, and getting into their cars, and she was more concerned that "we do not give hangers away", probably thinking I wanted free hangers, than the fact that they had just had items stolen.
I expect they got fed up with waiting to pay, and I am not really surprised.
I won't rush to go back.

My husband bought a nice suit. Reasonably priced too.

Always loved going in Matalan and their selection of clothes however unfortunately on our visit just now we were very unimpressed. Upon having to embarrassingly ask staff for use of the facilities, all they could say is that they don't have any and closest is McDonald's despite me explaining my situation. No empathy. Shame on Matalan, not all disabilities are visible and it is very uninclusive to not have facilities in store. Don't shop here if this would affect you too.
