Slug & Lettuce Winchester

Busy atmosphere in pleasant surroundings. The outside terrace is very European and the menu has a great choice, good service and reasonable prices.

Second visit and no better than the first, Burnt steak, this was refunded so credit where credit is due however, gents toilets not checked since Monday 9th April, it is Wednesday 11th April as I write this review,can't even be bothered to put the toilet roll in the dispensers. 14 year old in an embarrassing situation in the ladies as no toilet paper there in the cubicle. Avoid this restaurant as there are much better places in Winchester where you can spend your money and receive great food and service

Visited just after 4pm on a Thursday - quite quiet so very fast service! Quinoa chilli is absolutely gorgeous, and has quite a few other vegetarian options too. Very pretty decorations inside too - good for a date!

We have not visited this year until now.
This was due to early holidays then on return home lockdown started.
We have not ventured into pubs or restaurants for this reason.
This visit was booked on line.
Safety or arriving at our table was not compromised.
Tables were well spaced out.
Ordering the food was by the Slug and Lettuce app.
We ordered small plates dishes for our first course, only to find our main courses came out at the same time.
Not clear at all on the app if the order of service would not meet accepted convention.
The young waitress seemed to lack experience in serving. I had to ask for cutlery. Small plate course very good.
Main course chill and rice was fine , but sadly the Lasagne was over cooked, and the salad not the best
Using the app does seem to stop any off the staff from moving around the dining area to check on customer satisfaction , when they are not serving food.
Did manage to find one member of staff who would mention our problems to the kitchen staff.
This experience does not inspire my wife and I to go dining whilst covid-19 is about

About a year ago I thought the food and service warranted the five Stars rating.
We have since then returned on a number of occasions.
About two months ago a table for eight people was booked, as we expected lunchtime would be very busy. This was to be a celebration of our Granddaughters graduation. We had great expectations of returning and enjoying our lunches.
Sadly the food was a big disappointment. Three lasagnes were over cooked, and a salmon meal was not as good as expected. At the time of our visit I would suggest the Slug and Lettuce was not over busy.
The bill was reduced to reflect this , but could not compensate for the unexpected disappointment.

Friendly service. Decent food though chicken and bacon unremarkable. Good hygiene measures.

In a prime location in Winchester it should be better. Staff are unhappy, toilets disgusting and not checked since 20, dishes and glasses all over the bar and they ran out of salad leaves at 1.30pm on a bank holiday.
It’s in need of a massive refurbishment. Not the standard of other branches at all.

I visited the slug and lettuce Winchester recently. And what a place that was absolutely amazing staff and amazing food. They couldn't do enough for me and my family i highly recommend this place. Not only was the food service fast and the food was amazing but the choice of drinks was amazing. This is what a lot of pubs are missing these days it just shows anyone can open a pub but it takes good management and hard working staff to run a decent pub. Keep it up thank you again

It's ok for a food snack. Good value, great friendly staff.
I wouldn't have too high an expectation on the food but then it is fine for the price you pay.
The actual pub itself is really good, clean and the ambience is fine.
Toilets are clean also and it's a quick easy place to grab bite to eat.
