Great place for a few drinks in Belper. Especially when there is a 2 for 1 on the cocktails!

It’s lovely inside and can’t wait to use the outside area when the weather gets better!

We popped in for drinks on Thursday 18th August, it was quiet apart from a couple of people sitting at the bar. We bought drinks and sat down. The female member of staff continually used bad language whilst talking to the people at the bar (it was quite obvious that they were her friends) a further dozen friends came in and stood at the bar, the bad language, shouting and acting unprofessionally from this member of staff continued, we were quite frankly speechless! Such a shame as it's such a gorgeous place!

Serves pretty good cocktails and is cheaper during happy hour in the week. The service isn't exactly friendly though - we came midweek and the woman behind the bar didn't greet us or offer us a menu and seemed to be spending her time talking to a friend. Fine, but not rushing back

Myself and a few friends were enjoying some drinks at had a booth. The bar is well designed and we were enjoying our evening. That was until a friend of mine had accidently smashed her glass (very much an accident) and one of three bar staff (her name was Molly) came over to our table very abruptly and was so rude to us all. She told us to pay our bill and leave! I asked to speak with the manager- Will who was also a young man. He was just as rude, he didn't allow me to speak, just shouted over me and said that my friend was drunk and aggressive to the waitress. This was a complete LIE. Just to add were all mums in our 30's, we were tipsy but certainly not drunken yobs! We didn't deserve to be treated with such rude and disrespectful behaviour from both Will and Molly. They then asked security to escort us out and the security guy was also confused and said that he would be taking this behaviour by the staff to the owners as it's not acceptable. Very poor management and extremely rude and unprofessional staff. Disappointing as could be such a good bar but myself and others I will now speak to about this incident will not be going to The Monk Bar again.

Great cocktails created with flair very popular. Was not keen with mojito as it was very citrus and not enough rum.

Very trendy cocktail and wine bar. Aimed at the younger demographic but welcoming to all. Simple decor with bare brick interior. Expect upscale prices for an upscale bar, nice window overlooking King Street so a nice place to watch the world pass by. Popular with locals and tourists alike. Enjoy. M

We popped in last night to have a drink, usually we walk past and it is quite busy but it was very quiet this time. Friendly service 👍🏼
